    Former ECW World Champion Mike Awesome (real name Michael Alfonso), was found dead in his home on Saturday evening. He was 42 years old.
    According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, Awesome was found hanging in his home, found by friends, and suicide is suspected.
    Awesome has been out of the wrestling spotlight since the acquisition of WCW by the WWE (then WWF). He worked a short program after the merger, but never attained the heights he had as a headliner in ECW and in All Japan.

    After hearing Sean Waltman, aka X-Pac, aka 6Pac, aka The 123 Kid on the Bubba the Love Sponge show I'm sure he'll be soon to follow.

    Guarantee he'll be dead within 5 years.

    bfool's right.

    Talked about all of the coke, pills, etc.. he takes. Also talked about as soon as he got out of rehab he started shooting up steroids the same day.

    The guy also smokes like a chimney and drinks like a fish.

    Just a real self-destructive individual.

    I'll telll you what though, he's one hell of an interview. He's brutally honest about everything and is not scared to bad-mouth anybody.

    Mike Awesome should've been dead years ago...I remember watching an ECW match back in high school where he did some kind of flip and landed directly on his neck, and ECW never had mats outside of the ring. I thought for sure he broke it and died right there. One of the few instances in sports where I turned the other way.
