Yeah, whatever...
The days of the dumb football player are LONG gone. Intelligence DOES matter. There ARE plenty of underacheiver students that excell on the football field due to their understanding of the game and as you correctly pointed out film study etc. There are more great plays made due to pattern or play recognition than due to great athletcism. Just about every player awarded a scholarship has the physical ability to succeed. Only a few have the MENTAL makeup. Be it the simple belief in themselves to compete at that level, the time spent in preparation to simply understanding schemes or assignments. Every player, better either be a student of sorts or be beyond the imaginable physically, relative to the other beyond the imaginable specimens on the field:wink2: . This you need to know, the kids that we feel are unable to meet whatever the standards are that are set by the University or the NCAA, AREN'T EVEN CLOSE. We can work on the margins, or the guy that just needs to take care of small things to put them within those standards. We WANT to work with those kids. OF COURSE we do! If we have a problem with where they stand, it means the problem is LARGE. Look grade issues are common for athletes. It's a rare kid that is an acheiver in both academics and on the field. Most kids put the bulk of their efforts into what they like. That's normal and understandable. Like I said the ones that we don't go after hard because of academic isses have giant issues. It's truly a shame for the kid. It could be guidance, discipline, a learning disability or any number of reasons. Just know that no coach is happy when they can't go after a quality player due to grades.

With all due respect, It seem insane to me, that Holbrook and her witch hunt crew has made things so difficult that kids can get through the admission process to go to the University of Michigan yet, this same young man can't get through Ohio States standards?

The second question I have is it seems to meet that OSU is wiffing BADLY on OOS kids who have shown supposedly legit interest.

Both major services (scout and rivals) have OSU's class at 11/12 IMO its looking increasingly sceptical that we can stay in the top 20. Its my opinion based on what Im seeing that we probably dont get any of the OOS recruits we are chasing. I think we are in pretty good shape with the Glenville kids but outside of that, we don't have much in the pipeline of kids that are "marquee" type prospects.

with OOS kids if it2 33% percent it is seen as awesome chance. thats the facts if you think youve got a 25% chance at an OOS then hes one of these OOS names thrown around all the time with good chance. the reality is most of the OOS kids have a columbus or ohio connection.

im not saying tressel is flawless in his recruiting but hes done a pretty damn good job.

fwiw since you havent seemed to catch on. laguansurf is former player and future father (very very soon) to the ohio state football program.

you must not be looking very hard then, because mccarthy and larimore will be buckeyes by the end of the month. you have posted almost this exact statement on a few different boards now. you are likely going to get the same response here as you did elsewhere. <!-- / message --><!-- sig -->

are you even reading this thread? This counts as a "marquee" type prospect that we have a good shot at. Other programs have to have a pipeline of great OOS'ers, OSU does not.

recruiting rankings are made to sell subscriptions. beyond that, they are not very useful (someone posted the TSN all-freshman 1st team list, and there were about 21 of 25 that were 3 stars or below). How about our non-marquee frosh named malcolm jenkins and brian robiskie, both of which saw more PT than the higher rated O'Neal and Hartline.

I am sure that this will be split or deleted soon, but how can you seriously say this?

Hey I will give you the pink slip to my car and hand over my house if we don't get a top 20 class. Do you want to say the same to me about not getting a top 20 class. Hell I feel very good that we will get a top 10 class.
