Announcers (Official Thread)

Thump

Hating the environment since 1994
  • Thought this would be a good place for people to complain or commend announcers of Buckeye games.

First off, it sucks not having an OSU game broadcast in HD, guess that's what you get when the MAC has the rights to the game.

Anyhoo, thought Reghi and Chapman did a great job calling the game, no fluff and just stayed to calling the game.

I also like when they tell you the hometown and high school of the players, not sure if I am the only one who likes that or not.

In regards to the lead announcer Reghi, is it me or did his scalp look black like he had just dyed his hair?

Also, when he turned to the side to listen to Chapman's comments, he looked down his nose and looked just like Sir Steven Regal from WWE.

I'll just say that the first network to allow me to watch a game with only the game sounds, and the option to mute the commentators, will have my full attention.

One of the networks tried a game like that in the 70s and it went over like a lead balloon.
I thought Reghi and Chapman did a nice job-didn't say anything especially moronic, or go off on criticism tangents. They did a good job of critiquing TP while praising his strengths/great plays.

Earlier in the USC-Washington game I heard one of the announcers say, " I like Polk - he has SEC-type talent." :bonk:

Thanks for the insight, jackass. Maybe he'll leave Washington early to enter the SEC Draft.

I currently reside in Kansas. I complained several times to the cable company to carry the Big10 Network. I ordered a few weeks ago in hopes to watch most of the Buckeye games instead of fucking B-12 teams. I was upset that I could not even watch today's game, let alone in HD. Just be glad that you can watch it!! Anyways, GO BUCKS!!!

It really felt like they didn't study to do the game. Like they just got thrown on the broadcast the morning of. Could tell they had their cards in front of them, only had one fact about each player and rehashed it to no end. I don't know how many times I heard him go over what numbers the guys wear... common when you just read your card and are not really into the game. Oh well next week we get ABC guys who do the homework. At lest he didn't call Dane, "DAN" like most did last week.

Plus did he have to keep mentioning our "devastating loss last week".

the 15 second pause anytime a tOSU player did something while they looked up his name was driving me insane! you have a week to memorize the names of the people your likely to see comon! oh a great play by.................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................. pryor!

the "should have been a catch" calls on the two deep balls with chekwa in coverage... please! the wr was the flippin db on both plays. not certain either man really understands football. the down and distance guys were about as bad. made me miss spiels in a big way and thats saying something.

Boom HairRon did have a nice game and it was nice to see Melvin Fellows get his first game action.

I thought Reghi was horrible. He kept getting the names wrong, many times he was completely off in how many yards the play gained, and he kept referring to Bo Brudzinski as the son of Bob Brudzinski, the former Miami Dolphin.

Had I seen this thread earlier, I would have definitely pointed out these things, the Boom HairRon bothered me a lot, because that is a very simple name to pronounce. Also, Reghi was absolutely awful and couldn't seem to get anything right. They never knew if it was Posey or Carter, they mixed the two up so many times that they ended up just guessing while the ball was in the air it seemed, and like NateG said, they couldn't mention last week's loss without emphasizing how painful and heartbreaking it was for Buckeye fans. I hope we never have to have these guys again, I'd rather have Ron Franklin, Thom Brennaman, or even Pam Ward, and THATS saying something, because those three just suck.

I'm also really bummed they broke up Nessler and Griese, they were the best team for the past 3 years, ever since Danielson cheated on Musberger for the SEC.
