Ah, the commentary here gives me little hope for what is waiting for me on the DVR. Sounds like it's a pretty crappy remake attempt. Damn.

oh, fuck this will be terrible.

NBC producing it? It will be so over-the-top and over-produced that it will be unwatchable.

I'll stick the the replays on ESPN Classic. Because it just isn't American Gladiators without Larry Csonka.

Allow me to quote myself, because I was dead on.

I just got around to watching this, and there are two words to describe it: fucking terrible.

The episode last night was better than the 2 hour on Sunday. Way to much editing of the film. Just show the entire playing area so we can see what's happening. And enough with the scripted crap. Just air the events.

Pretty awful.

Sweet! Usually I have to pay for that kind of treatment!

Keep that Helga monster away from me, though!

I watched Monday's episode. My god... the unintentional comedy is enormous. A contestant who calls himself the Hebrew Hammer gets injured (Titan calls him a "Warrior" :slappy:) and is replaced by an ordained minister who calls himself the "reverend of rip" who later tells Ali, on some compelling questioning, "God gives us all gifts, and mind is the ability to talk smack." I was rolling. Speaking of compelling commentary Hulk Hogan hasn't lost a step, has he? I wish he'd talk with his hands a little more. It bugs me how he's always so stiff in front of the camera.

The best, however, was when I learned that the contestant wearing blue - the algebra teacher - had no idea how to swim at all. none. I thought he was convulsing trying to get under the unnecessary fire over the water part of the Eliminator.

Throwing the gladiator in the water (Hellga) for no reason other than her bullseye got hit.... funny. Even funnier frame by frame.

But, despite the high comedy, I won't be watching it again.

I finally got around to these on the DVR and largely I agree with every single comment from above. I still enjoy the events though, although the really messed up my favorite, assault, with their changes.

My girlfriend had never seen the original and couldn't really appreciate it. Her only comment, " Let's skip all of the scripted (aka horrible and pun-ridden) interviews and just watch the events.

Why does every Hogan interview seem like he's cutting a promo on the Ultimate Warrior?

That was great. He couldn't have been more than a couple feet from the fire when he finally went under and he didn't clear it by much either. If he had hair like the "Preacher of Pain", it would have been singed. :slappy:
