Alumni Football Ticket Changes

Wow...

Over the years, Sustaining and Life Members of the alumni association have shared feedback with us about the annual football ticket lottery. We’ve listened, and beginning with the 2016 football season we’ll institute changes that address what we’ve heard from our members.

We will make changes to the ticket purchasing process in three main areas:

· Game selection is in your hands: In the new process, you will have the opportunity to select which game(s) you want to attend, although you are not guaranteed to receive any game.

· Opportunity for more tickets to more games: You can purchase tickets for up to two games (one premier or Big Ten Conference game and one non-conference/non-premier game). For non-conference/non-premier games, you can purchase up to four tickets.

· Immediately know the game(s) you are attending: When you complete the ticket purchasing process, you know which tickets you are getting to which game(s).

The changes we are making have been directly driven by what we’ve heard from our members. We understand that attending football games is important to many of our alumni, and we believe the ticket-process changes will enable you to have more options and a better overall experience.

The ticket purchasing process will begin in early July. For more information, including tax deduction information for Sustaining Members, visit go.osu.edu/TicketChanges. We will share more information about the process in the coming months.

Thank you!

That's nice but I worry that twice the tickets means half the people getting tickets and not that they are expanding the alumni ticket allotment.

I kept getting shitty tickets to shitty games so I stopped buying. I actually got into some bad games - Western Michigan this year and Rutgers the year before - with decent seats for less than $40 each by dealing with scalpers. If I can get shitty tickets to the Michigan game, hey I'm there 'cause I paid $140 to watch Beanie and Terrell put the hammer on Dick Wad's boys and had to sit in the student section in the end zone. The rest of it, I'll take my chances with scalpers.

This change is a direct result of not only this thinking by the single game alumni, but even worse the long time season ticket holders are not happy. There a significant number of season ticket holders who dropped tickets last year and an even bigger number this year because the price has gotten out of control. By the time you pay your Buckeye Club/Presidents Club fees and then purchase the tickets at Face Value you are talking 250-400 per seat per game. With the amount of shitty games they have every year many of these buyers have had enough and figure even if they go to the secondary market it still comes out significantly cheaper through the course of a full season to the tune of a couple thousand per seat. Our firm and several that we work with have dropped all tickets and parking and moved to the secondary market.
