Greg Oden, 7-0, center, Lawrence North, Indianapolis
Just the stats: Averaged 20 points, 9.6 rebounds and 3.7 blocked shots, helping No. 6 Lawrence North win its second consecutive Class 4A state championship. A junior, he is only the second underclassman named USA TODAY's player of the year (the first was LeBron James in 2002). Will participate in the USA Basketball Festival and was named Gatorade's player of the year.

NBA player who reminds you of yourself: Ben Wallace. "First and foremost, he's a rebounder and shot blocker.
Why do you wear No. 50? "The higher numbers were always assigned to the taller players."
Should there be an age limit in the NBA: "No way, because if a kid can play, why deny him his chance."

This summer I'm going to be: "Working on my game and playing AAU ball with Spiece Indy Heat."

Just the stats: Averaged 27.4 points and 7.8 rebounds. Only second sophomore named Ohio's Mr. Basketball. LeBron James was the first.
In 10 years I want to be doing what? "Playing in the NBA, helping win a championship."
Tell us about your first dunk: "I was in sixth grade. I put one down against an eighth-grader."
Greatest fear: "That I won't be successful."
NBA player who reminds you of yourself: Dwyane Wade.
Why do you wear No. 32? "Don't know, but I've worn it since the fifth grade."
Should there be an age limit in the NBA? "I don't think so because young players have shown they can dominate."
Monta Ellis, 6-3, guard, Lanier (Jackson, Miss.)
Just the stats: Averaged 38.4 points, 7.2 assists and 6.8 rebounds. His 4,167 career points are second all time among large schools, with a high of 72.
College choice: Mississippi State (signed).
Favorite class and teacher: Math/Stephanie Hatcher.
In 10 years I want to be doing what? "Playing in the NBA or owning a real estate-related business."
Tell us about your first dunk: "I was 15 years old playing (in) open gym. Frankly, I didn't think anything of it."
Greatest fear: Snakes.
Food you absolutely can't stand: "I like it all."
NBA player who reminds you of yourself: Chauncey Billups.
Why do you wear No. 11? "It's the same one my mother (Rosa Ellis) wore at Lanier."
Should there be an age limit in the NBA? "No. It's proven high school players can adapt to the NBA."
Louis Williams, 6-3, guard, South Gwinnett (Snellville, Ga.)
Just the stats: Averaged 27.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, six assists and three steals. Named Georgia's Mr. Basketball. Played in McDonald's and USA Hoops Summit all-star games.
College choice: Georgia (signed); might opt for NBA.
Favorite class and teacher? Political systems/Laura Harris.
In 10 years I want to be where? Doing what? "Having a successful career in the NBA and giving back to kids."

Tell us about your first dunk: "I don't remember much about it. I was in eighth grade."
Greatest fear: Failure. "Not reaching my goals."

Should there be an age limit in the NBA: "No. It should be left up to the player."
COACH OF THE YEAR
Dan Bazzani, Niagara Falls (N.Y.)
Record: 170-53 (11 years). Went 28-1, leading No. 3 Niagara Falls to New York State Federation Class AA championship, becoming western New York's first team to win the federation's largest classification title. Serves as Niagara Falls School District athletics director.
Family: Wife, Beverley (married for 23 years); daughter, Alexandra, 16.
Greatest fear: "Having no timeouts when I need one or calling a timeout when I don't have any left."
Coach I admire and why: Dr. Len Serfustini (his former coach at the University of Buffalo). "He was the perfect role model, teaching me everything I know about the game."
In 10 years I want to be doing what? "I expect to be retired (he's 57 years old) and playing golf somewhere in the South."
If I wasn't a coach, I'd be doing what? Teaching physical education/health or a politician. "I was a city councilman (in Niagara Falls) for four years."
