About a year ago RhodeIslandBuck started a thread by posting his All-Jim Tressel Era Team.

I've finally gotten around to putting together the info I need to do a poll for the Buckeye Planet consensus all Tressel era team.

I've listed all of the starters from the beginning of the season during his tenure. I've also added any awards they received during their playing time and where they were drafted by the NFL.

I plan on doing similar polls for the Cooper, Bruce, Woody & pre-Woody eras as well.
To save space I'm just doing a single poll for the entire offense.

So vote for the following:

One Quarterback
One Runningback
One Fullback
One Tight End
Three Wide Receivers
Two Tackles
Two Guards
One Center
One Kicker
One Punt Return Man

That means you should cast a total of 14 votes.

Some players are listed at multiple positions due to being starters at different spots during their careers.

Players are listed alphabetically by last time.

Players who only spent one year under Coach Tressell are NOT included (so no LeChuck, Tyson Walter, Derek Ross, Jonathon Wells, Darnell Sanders, Jamar Martin, Courtland Bullard or Steve Bellisari). That same criteria will be in placed for the previous eras as well (So no Jeff Uhlenhake or Vince Workman for Coop  ).

So without further adieu, the nominees:

toughest decision is to leave one of the receivers off

I took three receivers and no fullback.

I would have taken a fullback if Jamar Martin had been on the list (2001 - block on Foote to spring Jonathan Wells for the big 4th and short that went for a long TD in Ann Arbor)

I also would have voted for LeCharles Bentley if he'd been available.

I may well have some of these names wrong, but I'm pretty sure I'm close.

About the only glaring difference in my choices is that I took Krenzel over Smith. After all he won the NC.

I couldn't vote for MoC. At some point, off the field issues do sway voting. If he was one and done without all the hassle then he would have got the vote. Just because he could have been someone but refused to grow up says alot about what he really would have become (just like Denver found out, fat, lazy and slow.)

Wow - from Coop to Tress... is there a better argument for Wide Receiver U? Or for that matter, offensive line U? Barton (especially in the shape he's in now), Boone, Smith, etc. and the 2008's will add a ton to this list too.

Off the field issues are one thing (and I'm not discounting them), but for me, MoC lost my vote when he was selling out the team before the Championship Game in 2002... despite his game-changing performance. You never NEVER sell out your team. As far as I can remember, he's the only Tress Buckeye to publicly speak against the team...

I took 4 recievers, No FB, No TE. When Gonzo is roamin the middle who needs a Tight End. BTW that's a lethal NFL wide reciever combination. Just wow.

FYI To keep the clutter down I've created a Master Thread for discussion of all the various coach's "consensus" polls.

Don't forget to vote in all the other polls!

(You can find links to them in the master thread linked above)

MoC, such potential, so much wasted... sigh. I know there's a lot of mixed feelings on the guy but overall I just find it sad, I watched the 2002 Fiesta bowl, and the play where the ball was turned over and he went and got it back just showed what he could have been if he had been able to stay out of trouble.
