I was thinking about starting thread on this the other day. I think he should get in. If you consider he did not play much the two first years of his career (241ab 53hits 8hr)
If you take the 10 full seasons he played he was .298 hitter and averaged 37.3 hr's per season. I think his #'s are more comparable to Hall of Famer Ralph Kiner
Different era, so not a direct comparison in my view...anyone who played after 1990 should probably only be compared with each other.
That said, Belle, for hitting, certainly had enough good years to warrant consideration...I don't remember him being much of a defensive player, but if power numbers are going to get you in, Belle had them.
All that said, I won't be heartbroken if he doesn't get in, either.
