Albert Belle arrested for stalking ex-girlfriend

Any Tribe fans remember the time he gave Fernando Vina a shot in the face with his forearm?...........classy move by Belle. :shake:

Yeah, but the Vina thing was funny, because he was such a turd and he was in the baseline. As a former middle infielder, I would have much rather taken a football type hit from a baserunner than getting spiked while turning two.

Anyone remember the ESPN commercial in the mid 90s with the guy in protective gear talking about the Indians?

I always thought the Vina thing was overblown, honestly. And besides, at least our guys don't give little girly slaps to try to knock the ball free. :p

PHOENIX (AP) -- Former major league slugger Albert Belle pleaded guilty to one count of stalking his ex-girlfriend, authorities said Wednesday.

Belle, who remains jailed, is scheduled to be sentenced Aug. 24 in Maricopa County Superior Court -- the day before his 40th birthday.

Prosecutors said Belle faces at least a 90-day jail sentence plus supervised probation and must avoid all contact with the victim.

Belle was arrested May 17 at his Scottsdale home and prosecutors said he will not get credit for time already served.

Scottsdale police arrested Belle after they investigated allegations that he made harassing telephone calls to his former girlfriend and violated a court order prohibiting contact with her.

The felony stalking charge was filed in February. Belle's former girlfriend told police that she discovered a Global Positioning System tracking device that had fallen off her car in January and that Belle had threatened her.

The volatile Belle often ran into trouble on and off the field during his playing days.

A five-time all-star outfielder, Belle hit 381 career home runs in a 12-year career that began with the Cleveland Indians in 1989.

He also played for the Chicago White Sox and Baltimore before retiring in 2000 after his second season with the Orioles.

Albert Belle was sentenced to three months in jail and five years of supervised probation in Phoenix yesterday for stalking his ex-girlfriend.
Belle, 39, pleaded guilty in July to one felony stalking count. He had initially been arrested and charged in February, then rearrested May 17 at his Scottsdale, Ariz., home after he again contacted the victim. He has been jailed since the second arrest and received credit for time served only since he entered his plea.
Superior Court Judge James Keppel warned Belle that if he contacts the victim again he will go to prison. Belle’s former girlfriend told police in January that she discovered a Global Positioning System tracking device that had fallen off her car and that Belle had threatened her.
