Alabama's Trent Richardson

So what is everyones thought on this kid... Is he that good or did my Lions defense just suck that bad....

He is a beast!!!!! Not quite as shifty as Ingram but alot more powerful.
Even if, and im sure they were streaching abit about his strength in that gameday bit on him in the weight room, if he is just half as strong as they made him out to be he is stronger than almost every other back in the country and probably half of the linebackers.

I think the guy is very young but is extremely powerful. He has the potential to be better than Ingram, but only time can tell if he will be better than a Heisman trophy winning back. That is a BIG feat. One game of a big showing doesn't anoint you the next big thing, nor does it discount your quality.

Only time can tell if Richardson will be better, being the weight room God doesnt always mean you will win a position battle - ask David Boston or Gholston in the NFL.

The biggest question is that when Ingram comes back, is Richard relegated to 3rd and short yard scenarios, will he split the carries, or will he be riding pine to only be seen in the 3rd/4th quarter? We don't know.

As far as PSU is concerned, their defense looked very suspect ala FSU. Will they finish ranked? Did they have a bad day? Are they over rated? These are also questions that will be answered by the end of the season.

The kid has talent, but he has to still be evaluated.

He proved his talent last year, he's ridiculously good. 19 carries for 109 yards and 2 TDs in the title game, and that followed an 11 carry/80 yard game against Florida. Had 751 yards, 8 TDs, 5.2 YPC last year as a backup. I think he looks better than Ingram. I think they'll split carries, wouldn't be surprised if Richardson got more carries.

Richardson got a good number of carries LAST year as a true freshmen (about the same number as Saine or Herron got), there is no way he'll be riding the pine. If you've got 2 guys that can tote the rock then you are going to feed it to both of them, that'll only make each one of them more effective when they can rely on the other to help wear down the d.

"I think" and "last year" are term's for guessing what a guy will do next. Everyone anointing him a front runner for a Heisman, what do you do when Ingram comes back and Richardson's production drops off? What is Richardson goes down with an ankle injury ala Beanie a few years back?

I get it, the guy has talent, but jeez can we let a player play before giving him so much praise?

Every player - every recruit - somehow gets and needs some sort of justification before he plays a full season in college. We saw the same with TP - "he will be the next Vince Young", and who will be the next AJ Hawk? JL? Tim Tebow? Reggie Bush? We learned our lessons from Ray Small as the next Ted Ginn and Mo Wells as the next great speed back at OSU - not even close. Even the transition to the pro grame - Alex Smith, bust, Matt Leinart, bust, LenDale White, bust, Reggie Bush - not exactly the next Jim Brown...We are even doing this with every new recruit we get - comparisons to a big name collegiate or pro player.

I just don't understand why we need to justify every single players worth without every letting them play a full starting season in their position.

Again, Richardson has talent and has had some great games, but we don't know whats going to happen to him next game. Everyone thought going into the season that Ingram would be a leading candidate for the Heisman again, but that changed, so its the same thing here.

Let the kid play ball - label him appropriately after the season is done.
