TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- Alabama defensive end Brandon Deaderick was hospitalized in good condition Tuesday after being shot in the arm during a robbery attempt at an off-campus apartment.

Brad Fisher, a spokesman for DCH Regional Medical Center, said the 6-foot-4, 306-pound senior from Elizabethtown, Ky., would likely be released within a day.
"It's not life threatening," said Fisher.

Capt. Greg Kosloff, a spokesman for the Tuscaloosa Police Department, said the player was in an apartment parking lot with a female acquaintance about 10 p.m. Monday when he was approached by a lone man wearing dark clothes, a dark ball cap and a blue bandanna over his face.

WR Jones, RB Ingram cleared to play for Alabama

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- No. 5 Alabama will have two of its key offensive players for the opener Saturday night against No. 7 Virginia Tech.

The NCAA reinstated receiver Julio Jones and tailback Mark Ingram on Wednesday on the condition that they repay the cost of a Gulf Coast fishing trip paid for by businessman Curtis Anderson during the spring. An Alabama spokesman said the money had been paid to charity.

"According to the facts of the case submitted by Alabama, the student-athletes received impermissible food, lodging, transportation and entertainment from an individual with whom one of the student-athletes had become acquainted prior to enrolling in college," the NCAA said in a statement.

"Consistent with NCAA membership requirements, the institution reported the violation and declared the student-athletes ineligible. As part of the reinstatement request, the institution required the student-athletes to make repayment of the value of the impermissible benefits to charity."

Wow.....

Alabama is doing its level best to lose this game....

AND then Virginia TEch tries to force an option play that wasn't there and loses nearly 20 years on the fumble.....

AND now Alabama just gives it all back to them with two stupid personal fouls on the same guy

I put a little vCash on Bama in this one but make no mistake - I'm still rooting against SEC teams every chance I get. I'll be perfectly happy if VT can get in the end zone one more time to clinch the over.
