The wisdom or philosophy of letting the penalty not affect the outcome of the game is entirely a different matter, and the NCAA is the one to look at, not the refs who called it right for a change.

It appears that you failed to consider that I said "probably" since I considered it to be a possibility that the refs actually realized what the rule was in not throwing the flag.

But if they had thrown the flag, and then explained to the crowd that the penalty was a moot point, and the game really was over due to the rulebook, I'd be more likely to believe that. :wink2:
