2026 AL DL Emanuel Ruffin (Colorado Decommit)

Emanuel Ruffin to commit on July 4

Ohio State landed a key defensive line target on Tuesday evening, as four-star defensive end Khary Wilder committed to the Buckeyes late in the evening. It was Larry Johnson’s first commit of the 2026 cycle.

He’s hoping to add plenty more by the time the summer concludes.

Johnson will get an answer from four-star Alabama defensive tackle Emanuel Ruffin soon as he has set a decision date for July 4.

Ruffin will choose from Ohio State, LSU, Texas, Alabama and Georgia. He took his official visit with the Buckeyes last weekend and has trips scheduled to LSU and Alabama ahead of his commitment. There’s no clear leader for Ruffin at the moment, so we’ll see how hard Johnson and company push for his commitment next month depending on how the rest of official visit season goes.

The Buffs NIL givers have gotta be a tad disappointed in Neon Deon's team output. Yeah, he sells the sizzle, and is good at it, but his teams haven't produced all that well on the field. Soooo, maybe this is a place holder for Ruffin (?) We'll see if LJsr keeps after him, or lets him go his own way. Always interesting, never stagnant.

Per Birm, Emanuel Ruffin had a legit cancellation. Uncle that was bringing him to the game got called into work at the fire station last minute. Trip will likely be rescheduled for UCLA or Rutgers.

Just noticed that Ivins at 247 actually posted a new breakdown of Ruffin just a few days ago.. Sounds like a very high-upside guy. Athleticism to stay at 3T, but the frame to add bulk and play 1T. Will have to learn how to play inside though and take on double teams, as he plays 5T in HS.

-Tall and powerful lineman that can be a building block up front as he can penetrate gaps and create traffic jams.
-Flashes rare agility and movement skills for someone that has been verified at just over 6-foot-4, 295 pounds and impressed with his change-of-direction efficiency during combine drills at an Under Armour camp in advance of senior season.
-Positioned primarily as a 5-technique in 3-4 look at the prep level, but should shift inside in college and could possibly settle in as a nose.
-Will disengage with his brawny upper-body strength and will work to slide towards ball carriers that pick other run lanes.
-Displays desired effort for stretches in pursuit and has some unexpected range for a big man with his burst and quickness.
-Plenty of room to raise both the floor and ceiling in a college weight room as he’s a naturally high athlete with some tightness in the ankles.
-Rare body type in the class that will have a chance to make an impact at the Power Four level after a developmental semester or two.
