Archie Griffin to Dot the 'i' During Ohio State’s Season Opener Against Akron

On Thursday, Ohio State revealed two-time Heisman Trophy winner Archie Griffin will dot the "i" in Script Ohio at halftime of the Buckeyes' season opener against Akron.

"The opportunity, in Ohio Stadium, to dot the 'i' is a very special honor," Griffin said in an Ohio State press release. "I know that Woody (Hayes) was proud to have had that opportunity, and I am following in his footsteps and am extremely proud of this opportunity."

In 88 years of Script Ohio, seven non-band members have dotted the 'i': comedian Bob Hope (1978), Hayes (1983), golfer Jack Nicklaus (2006), Sen. John Glenn and Annie Glenn (2009), marching band director emeritus Jon R. Woods (2011) and Earle Bruce (2016). On Aug. 31, Griffin will receive the honor, "considered the greatest the band can extend to a nonmember."

Just sayin': I'm just surprised he hasn't already dotted the "i".

Every time I start to feel this way I remember when Northern Illinois came into town and Garrett Wolfe ran all over us.
I remember being completely unsurprised by Wolfe. He got plenty of yards. The Huskies scored a total of 12 points. Wolfe was a great college football player and the Buckeyes had a lot of new starters on defense.

The Zips have no one in Wolfe’s zip code. And while the 06 defense had good stats, they were nowhere near what we have very good reason to expect the 24 defense to be

Every time I start to feel this way I remember when Northern Illinois came into town and Garrett Wolfe ran all over us.

Wolfe ran for 1500+ yards in each of the previous 2 seasons and NIU was an upper level MAC team.

Akron went 2-10 last year and their only returning RB who played had 4 Carries for 5 yards. (Leading rusher only had 645 yards)

Their OL is terrible as well. Don’t think we have to worry about a Wolfe situation.

Just want to see the starters done by half time. If we can do that and stay healthy the first month that’ll be huge for the first stretch of Sparty, Iowa and Oregon.
It would depend on how many series we get in that half. If it only equals out to be about 4 series on both sides of the ball I'd say play the 3rd quarter also. I really want us to have about 25 series in before Oregon on both sides of the ball. Hopefully we see a little diversity in a series or two and let them get some things corrected. We've got 3 easy weeks then conference. In a perfect world we'd see all kinds of things in those series.

I'd also like to see backups mixing in with first team instead of just an entire new unit coming in at once. We all know thats not how the season goes. We better beat the spread and I'd love to see that done while also pitching a shutout to start this championship season.
