Affliction: Fedor Emelianenko vs. Tim Sylvia

I'm going with Tim Sylvia. He had better win!!

Fedor is a beast, if he shows up like he did in Pride, then it could be a quick, ugly fight. But Tim was a monster when he was in the UFC as well, so we'll see, I am really looking forward to the card. It's playing here, where the Ducks play, I am trying to figure out a way to go without having to sell off my wife.

I would love to go see any MMA fight, especially one in the UFC circuit. There is a guy that I went to school with, he graduated a year before me, 1994. He has fought in Japan a few times. It aired on HBO. I think it's been 4 or 5 years ago. His name is Matt Horning. He moved back here and is training about a dozen guys (local). He's pretty good. It's just not a career that most people can grow old doing.

Agreed DaytonBuck. Fedor is the baddest man on the planet and the pound for pound greatest. Not only is he a freak but his technical skills are absurd. His hands are like bricks attached to lightning, he can ground and pound you into dust (from full guard no less), his Sambo skills are unreal, and his Judo is insane as well. He has fantastic takedown and submission defense and it's nearly impossible to get him into a bad position on the ground, he either counters you or just squirms his way back to his feet. The guy has fantastic cardio too. He can beat BBJ black belts on the ground and K-1 champs on his feet. He just seems to be world class at every aspect of MMA. The only weakness he really has is that he seems to cut a little more easily than some people but that is pretty nit-picky. I love that he'll help an opponent to their feet after stomping the shit out of them. Fedor is a true champ and a pleasure to watch.

Am I the only one who is wondering what Dana White's stupid ass is going to have to say now that Fedor made the #4 in the world look like a clown?

Fedor rings Sylvia's bell just 36 seconds into Affliction bout

ANAHEIM, Calif. - The main mixed martial arts event between heavyweights Fedor Emelianenko and Tim Sylvia at Affliction Banned ended almost as soon as it started.

The two tapped hands when the bell rang and Emelianenko wasted no time taking the fight to Sylvia.

The Russian delivered a powerful and speedy combination of rights and lefts that stunned and quickly knocked down Sylvia, who is eight inches taller and 33 pounds heavier.

With the two-time former Ultimate Fighting Championship champ down, Emelianenko continued to pound Sylvia and then applied a choke hold on his near-defenseless opponent.

Thirty-six seconds into the much-anticipated and much-hyped fight, Sylvia tapped out and Emelianenko captured the World Alliance of Mixed Martial Arts heavyweight championship.

Cont'd ...
