Adopt a Bobcat for March!

Okay, so they're the cinderella of cinderellas, and Thad's crew would likely do a whole lot more damage in the NCAAs, but how about getting on board the Bobcat bandwagon for March?

Tonight's wild, last-second tip-in overtime win over Buffalo puts the 'cats in the tourney for the first time since 1994, so the state of Ohio will be represented by a state-named school after all. Like the Bucks, these guys are scrappy and hang in there, coming back from 19 down to win tonight. They're 21-10 this season, after going a dismal 10-20 last year (sound vaguely familiar?).

So how about it? Throw on some green for St. Paddy's day and for the Bobcats!

BrutusBobcat - Did you make the trek up to Cleveland this weekend? I got great seats to all the games and were very competitve. It was a wonderful sight coming back last night to win then watch the scene as the students rushed the court. The scene outside at the bars was even better.

Everyone Else - You will all fall in love with this team watching them in the dance. They were originally picked to finish 13th in the MAC because of their youth. But they found 2 great freshman that have grown all year, they combined for 50 points last night... so they will be back next year and be even better. They are being projected as a #12 seed which is a great upset seed. They will pull out a half court trap defense that falls back to a 3-2 zone that pressures the ball handlers and cause plenty of turnovers.

I was very impressed by the Bobcats, and enjoyed watching that title game. What a comeback!

I'm curious to see who they draw tonight, because I think they could "upset" someone's season. I may just have to drop some "bucks" on them in Vegas next week, depending on how many points they're getting.

I'll even give 'em an OH-IO!

Piney, no I didn't get up there, just caught it on TV down at El Vaquero last night. Sounds like you had a great time checking out some MAC ball!

When I was at OU, we followed the '94 team around all over the place -- up to NYC for the pre-season NIT (the place was empty, just a handful of fans and the band), up to St. John's for an OSU-OU showdown, and down to UK to take on Pitino's top 3 Wildcats, but it's been years since I've been to a game.

If the tourney game is within a day's drive, I may just have to go though. :)

Followed the '94 team? That is when I attended OU. I followed them to the OSU game that year then car pooled to the game at University of Virginia... I will never forget how quiet all those UVA fans were when OU was up 20+ points on them, and then how loud they got when they pulled close. But it was sweet rushing that court after OU won

I am just praying that Ohio gets put into the Cleveland bracket... but that might be a pipe dream.

There's also the RCA dome in Indy, which I'm hoping for as well, since it's not that bad of a drive from Columbus.

One thing I'll never forget about the OSU game is driving back down to Athens listening to the Buckeye post game and all they were doing was bitching out the OSU fans for sitting on their hands and letting a bunch of MAC fans upstage them in their own gym. For me it was very strange, since I'd gone to Ohio State for a year when we had Jimmy Jackson, Treg Lee, Perry Carter and company, and I'd had West End Court tickets. There was NO WAY during that time that ANY opponent was coming into SJA and have their fans make any kind of presence felt.

If you missed out on going to UK, that was something. There were maybe a couple dozen of us there, and the UK fans were amazing. Even then, when we tied it up at 2:00 left in the second half, you could have heard a pin drop in the place. The Wildcat fans in front of us had been talking friendly smack to us all game ("O Who?" stuff like that), so it was great to see them get all quiet. Good times.

OUCH! Tough draw for the Bobcats, taking on Florida in Tennessee.
:shake: God that was horrible... a freaking #13 seed. When they announced Alabama as a #5 seed in Cleveland I was all set to go crazy when they would announce Ohio as the #12 seed... oh well. Then we get Florida, at least they are upset prone come tourney time and I can only pray.

Good thing OU didn't have to play my Zips.
