ACC bid up for review?

This just isn't going to happen, but you all have no idea of how much fun I'm gonna have down here this off season. having an 8-4 suck ass team as your conference champ will be brought up anytime I hear ACC chest thumping. Now PSU better go down there and smoke that ass.

As the official Tallanasty resident of Buckeye Planet, you KNOW I'm with you on this one Jax. The people here in 'the nasty' might have their confidence back after last night, but PSU is going to destroy them. Going to work on January 3rd is going to be s-w-e-e-t!

besides being a better team overall, PSU has a very good DL, that will be facing at least four backups on FSU's OL. BN27 may not like it, but I love seeing the big ten roll in bowl games... prevents us from getting Oregon'ed.

The ACC is going nowhere. They really should 86 the Big East. Whatever Bowl they get slotted into has been snooze central the last two seasons. Does anyone have any interest whatsoever in seeing WVU-Georgia??

based on what sloopy? methomps pointed out that unless FSU is above #18, their conference champions will not average #12, which is the magic number to maintain the bid.

AP poll out:
FSU #22

Based on the fact that the ACC is a powerful conference with big schools and financial influence. Why would they ever dream of pulling the plug on the ACC when it's a potential cash cow in the future?

All comes down to money ..

You think the BCS wants Miami and FSU out in the future???

No, but how ironic would that be? The BCS commish has ties w/ the big least. If they're still mad enough, they may indeed want to see this. Then Miami and VaTech can watch as the MAC or WAC gets the ACC automatic bid. That'll teach them to leave the mighty big least..

jwinslow: "they made the rule, knowing a cash cow conference could struggle and lose their bid. Are they just going to ignore the rule they made about automatic bids?"

Yes. They had every chance (and reason) to 86 the Big Least this past season, and didn't do it. And there's not a big revenue school in that whole bunch.

Why are they going to get rid of the ACC with big money schools all over the place?

That rule was inserted as a fail-safe, with no intention whatsoever of ever being enforced.

I tell you what, my man: (this is in writing right here and right now), I'll send you a blank check in the mail the day after the ACC is out of the BCS due to this rule.

they can review it after the 4 year avg goes below 12....that doesn't mean they're automatically out if that happens. it wont happen to the ACC.

It would be quite monumental for them to leave the ACC out... tho I agree that it seems they will simply review it and protect their cash cow (I was under the impression it was a rule, and not subjective detail only used to hamper conferences they don't like).

People have suggested that there is too much money in the big east to cancel out their bid.

If this is the case, then what is the point of a fail-safe if they have no intention of removing any teams?

I'm sure that clause was put in solely as a backdoor option. I doubt it will every be used, but if it is, it'll be the Big Least.

As for kicking the ACC out of the BCS, while I admit it would be humorous, it would also be a travesty. Next to the SEC and the Big 10, the ACC is the best conference in the country. I'd rather see the Big XII or Pac 10 go than the ACC. At least, the "new" ACC, w/ Miami and Va Tech.

That power-drunk guy is making a lot of sense today. :wink2:

Just so we don't have all the problems we have had in the past.
Will the check be signed?
Will it be sent with postage?
Will it be a check that will be accepted at a financial institute?
Just making things a little more clear.
