Be very, very certain the area is inaccessible to children and pets when you aren't around. Luckily kids were never an issue, but we left the fence open once the cover was on and secured (we thought) for winter... trying to pull a panicked doberman out of a covered pool in 40-degree weather is not fun.

Make sure unless you are certain in your abilities you have some professional help putting in the liner, b/c if you screw up and add the water there is no fixing it and if it is not tight there is a higher risk for a hole and once that happens you are down 200 bucks putting in a new one. We had this problem last summer and our liner was only in 3 years.
