Brewster.....
I agree that Glenn Mason is the anti-Brewster. However, I am questioning why (if I am reading correctly) is he a "scumbag." If you are referring to Zook and RR I will defer to people who know about them to talk about them. But if Brewster is one of those scumbags I beg to differ.
He came up here and had to mend A LOT of fences. What Cooper did to the Ohio football coaches Mason did the the MN football coaches. Brewster and staff visited ALL high schools in the state in an effort to reconnect. It is working as I know schools like Eden Prairie have a vastly higher image of Brewster than Mason. I know people that met with Mason - they said he acted arrogantly as if it was their pleasure to be recruited by MN. Parent after parent said Mason turned them off to the U. Brewster is much more of a grassroots, we are family, rah rah guy. In addition, the U's rivals of Wisconsin and Iowa may make fun of Brewster for going 1-10 but I have yet to hear a single word from their fan bases that would make him out to be a "scumbag."
I think Big 10 recruiting took a step up when Brewster took over for Mason. Now let us see if his coaching abilities are a step back or step up.

As much as I hated Lloyd Carr as the coach of my Rival, I never thought he was a ethic-less scumbag. Glenn Mason was something of an anti-Brewster when it comes to recruiting. So, in that respect, Taos, I agree there has indeed been a change, and one which appears to bring with it a certain degree of .... shall we say... alternative competitiveness.
