Kitna/Orlov/Culpepper > Quinn/Anderson
Mangini > Rod Miranelli
Cleveland Defense > Detroit Defense
Calvin Johnson > Edwards/MoMass/anyone

It's close - but I'll give the nod to Detroit, just barely. If Romeo were still coaching the Browns - it'd be Detroit in a landslide.

Here's a pretty inept list of teams:

ESPN.com - Page2 - Worst NFL teams of all time

The gold standard for pro football calamity is Tampa Bay, 1976. From NFL Fanhouse:

And here is the true measuring stick of ineptitude. You want to prove the Lions are the worst team of all time, prove they are worse than this pathetic bunch. They did manage to come within a field goal twice, but sputtered down the stretch, getting blown up more times than not. They turned the ball over 37 times, ranked dead last in team offense, and mustered only five rushing touchdowns.

Cleveland is on track to exceed that, if one can use the word "exceed" in a sentence referring to the Browns.

The Browns still have 13 games to go. If they win 2, I will say the Lions. If they win 1, I would go with a tie, depending on who they beat. If they win 0 and play like they have been for the entire season, I would put them behind the 1976 TB Bucs...yes, I said it.

Steve Spurrier led the team that season with 1628 yards passing and 7 TDs. I don't see either Browns QB reaching either of those numbers as it currently stands, and that's with 2 extra games. Ballcoach tossed 12 picks that season...Anderson could have that number by November 1st (or sooner), and he didn't even start the first 3 games. Louis Carter got himself some to the tune of 521 yards and a TD on the ground to lead the squad. While I think our leading rusher (whoever the hell that might be) can pass the 76 TB team lead in rushing TDs (2), maybe by week 12 or so, I am not certain that anyone will pass that 521 yards, because I don't know that we will run the ball enough or keep anyone healthy long enough to do so.

After 3 games, our special teams are better than theirs...that's about it. Oh, and they took a 42-0 drubbing in Pittsburgh the 2nd to the last game of the year...if that's the measuring stick, we may not do better than that either.
