A new way to crown the National Champion

What if, instead of crowning a national champion every year, we determine the current champion of college football by a title that is passed on from team to team. When you beat the current title holder, you become the title holder.

The first champion was the winner of the first game ever, Rutgers over Princeton, 6-4.

So where's the NC for the SEC teams that beat LSU in 2004? They were the 2003 NC not USC.

In fact USC has only played the other best team at the end of a year once and they lost.

Their little dynasty is owed in large part to a vastly overrated OU team in 2003 and 2004. The BCS got them out of playing LSU and Auburn those 2 years.

They should be AP champs in 2003 because the sportswriters threw a hissy fit when the system didn't fit their opinion. Then if the media codsacks had the stones to use the same criteria they made up in 2003 in 2004 USC should have split the title with Auburn.

Great win streak(in a soft conference) but 1/2 + 1/2 = 1 in my book.

Texas and OSU are the last 2 undisputed NC's.
