I was a manager for a resturant at the time, and was sleeping in because of closing the night before. I go up to check fantasy footballs scores and was slapped awake by the images of the first tower burning on the front page of cbs sportsline.

I was getting ready for work... I turned on the TV when I got up and saw the reports of the first plane hitting... I remember thinking "huh, a plane hit one of towers"... no one realized it was a terror attack yet. I went to the bathroom to get ready and came back in time to see the next plane hit. I think I just sat there for the next half an hour before I realized I better get to work. I took my little pocket TV with and me and my employees watched it pretty much non stop for the rest of the day.

I was taking my daughter to school when a friend from FL called and asked if I was watching tv. I ran in the house and sat on the floor in front of the tv for hours. I was so afraid if they were showing this to my young children at school withoug explanation. Thankfully they didn't. Remember the Heroes today, not jus the dispair. May God punish those that hurt you.

Getting ready to drive to Chicago to see a Reds game at Wrigley. I still haven't made it out there, and at this point, I'm not sure I really want to.

I was in third period study hall when two 8th graders came in and told me one of the World Trade Centers had collapsed.

I didn't believe them, turned on the TV and saw a pile of rubble.

I then turned the TV off b/c our principal didn't want the students to get freaked out.

I remember a lot of parents pulling their kids out of school that day.

I had the day off. Got a call from my wife in Stamford, 24 miles from the WTC, said, "Turn on CNN, the WTC has been hit by a plane!"
Turned on CNN just in time to see the second tower hit! WTF!
Truly bizarre!
We had been to the top of the WTC several times.
Scary that a building that tall, sways in the wind!
Makes my head spin.
Of note, the Empire State building has been hit by planes at least once.
My first thought was a small plane had accidentally flown into one of the towers.
If only that was what had happened.

Like the Kennedy, JFK, assassination, everyone remembers where they were when it happened.

The whole thing has brought a realization that we are not separate from the world, we are a part of what's happening in the middle east and else where in the world.
The world has changed.
We must change.

A guy in an office next to mine was listening to Stern and told us that a plane had hit on of the towers. Of course, we all thought it was just a terrible accident.... I think everybody spent the rest of the day listening to the radio and checking in on the internet.

I think the thing that hit me the most was while listening to Peter Jennings on the radio when the first tower fell. You know reporters, never at a loss for words, but when he saw it happening he said "Oh dear God" and couldn't say anything else for a few moments. I just sat there, dumbfounded, trying to imagine what he must have been seeing.

I was working for a lousy phone company trying to sell some guy on our "service" when he got a call from his wife telling him about it. I had another sales guy with me and the three of us talked about it for few minutes and we all agreed that someone was going to pay for this outrage.
