I apologize for hijacking this thread to talk about the original subject, but I don't buy the "how are my kids supposed to learn with this" whining. (S)he's an f'ing substitute teacher. Nobody learns anything when a sub is in. It's all busy work.

And nobody is going to be traumatized because last year's male sub is now eligible to compete for the Chinese Olympics team. These kids probably wouldn't remember the name of a sub they had a week ago. The sad thing is there are manlier, uglier substitute teachers who were born and remain 'female'.

Think about it: the alternative is Thump

Transgender female arrested for using women's restroom

NEW YORK (AP)-- Helena Stone is upset that she's been arrested for using the woman's restroom at Grand Central Terminal.

The 70-year-old transgender phone repair worker says she's been arrested three times by transit police in the last six months.

She's filed a complaint with the city Commission on Human Rights and with the Metropolitan Transportation Authority police -- saying an MTA officer called her "a freak, a weirdo and the ugliest woman in the world."

City guidelines say that restrooms must be available to transgender people.

After Stone held a rally and news conference today, an MTA spokesman said the charges would be dropped.
