Who will get your vote this week?
Back in action for the first time this season, Ohio State class of 2017 verbal commit Tyjon Lindsey didn’t just catch a pair of touchdown passes from fellow OSU pledge and Bishop Gorman (NV) teammate Tate Martell, the standout was also named the Land-Grant Holy Land MVP of the Week.
Locking in 36% of your votes, Lindsey walked away with the award with over his soon-to-be Ohio State teammates Chase Young (29%), Emory Jones (24%), Blake Haubeil (7%), and Brian Snead (4%).
Most of the future Buckeyes were back on the field over the weekend. Which Ohio State commit did enough to grab your vote this go around?
The poll is now open. Here are your Week 6 Player of the Week nominees:
Tate Martell
After not being up for the MVP award last week, the four-star rated quarterback is back on the list.
Taking on fellow Ohio State pledge Trevon Grimes and St. Thomas Aquinas (FL) on Friday night, Martell led his Bishop Gorman (NV) squad to a hardfought three-overtime victory over his future OSU teammate Grimes, and the Raiders.
In the 25-24 Bishop Gorman win, Martell connected on 11 of his 17 passing attempts for 136 yards, and three touchdown passes. Showing off his dual-threat abilities, he also carried the ball eight times for 67 rushing yards.
Josh Myers
Named homecoming king, Myers topped of his weekend blocking Miamisburgh (OH) to a runaway 45-14 victory over Fairmont.
On two plays alone, the five-star tackle helped pave the way for over 100 yards from scrimmage. Opening holes upfront, Miamisburgh came up with touchdown runs of 47 and 67 yards in the blowout win.
Blake Haubeil
Haubeil didn’t finish the game with any tackles or touchdowns, but the kicker made his presence felt during Fridays match-up against Alden (NY).
Coming out the gates hot and never looking back, Canisius rolled over Alden, 55-7. Haubeil knocked in seven extra points, and also hit seven of his nine kickoffs for touchbacks.
Jerron Cage
Cage, and Cincinnati Winton Woods took one on the chin on Friday. Falling to Bishop Chatard, 23-19, the future Buckeye defensive tackle and his teammates might’ve not picked up the win, but he sure didn’t make it easy for the Trojans to be victorious.
Per Bucknuts, the longtime OSU commit finished with seven total tackles.
Shaun Wade
On Friday night Wade showed why he’s considered one of the top overall defensive backs in the class of 2017. In the 56-13 Trinity Christian (FL) shellacking of Providence High School, the five-star talent ended his evening with four total tackles and a pair of deflected passes.
