#6 The Ohio State University vs. Penn St., Saturday, Dec 7 @ 12 PM, BTN

despite this team's hot start, i'd take the 2010-11 team over 2019-20 so early in the season. and that's the thing. this team is still rather young. lots of underclassmen playing meaningful minutes. if this team progresses as one hopes and expects, then this team should have the higher ceiling. i'd give the sully team the edge at the 3 and 5, but i'm taking this team at the 2 and 4. i'm giving craft the point-guard edge (right now) because his defense and composure were that good. might have to revisit that edge in march. so much depends on carton developing into a two-way point guard who can be trusted.
Admittedly my take is an overreaction based on the absolute decimation we've seen from them.

i think it might be an overreaction to call your take an overreaction. this team may very well be better. hard to say, really. for right and wrong, i'm just defaulting to experience, especially early in the season. also think craft would make things extremely difficult for walker and especially carton.

That 2011 Team was just stacked.

Sullinger >Kaleb
Craft>Carton and Walker
Diebler>Washington
Lighty>Muhammed

Deshaun Thomas>Andre
I would disagree that frosh DT was better than Senior Andre. While the best players on 2011 were better than their 2020 counterparts, the bench is the edge that this team has. One player only gets 5 fouls, and may have to play tentative to stay in the game, but for instance two players manning the point gives them both more ability to play aggressively.

i agree that sully was better than kaleb is now, but the issue with that match-up is that kaleb would pull sully from the basket, which was a liability for that team. also, i'm not so sure about the 2010-11 thomas being better than andre. deshaun feasted on lesser competition that year, but he struggled against good teams, especially on defense. he was a turnstile. the challenge for the 2010-11 team versus this squad is that lighty would be tasked with guarding young/liddell. you're now shifting buford and diebler onto andre and washington/muhammad. this team could exploit that team at the 2.

still contend that the biggest difference between the two teams is composure. craft could wedge into any team and split open a fissure. have doubts about how this team's backcourt would respond to him.
