50 most important people on the web

    1. Eric Schmidt, Larry Page, and Sergey BrinExecutives, Google

When your stock price can top $500 a share, you're collectively worth $33 billion in cash, and you run the most trafficked search engine on the Internet, you can afford to do, well, pretty much whatever you want.

    2. Steve Jobs CEO, Apple

No doubt you're sick of the media bonanza surrounding the every move of Apple's CEO, but when one man's appeal for DRM-free music reverberates around the world, it's hard to ignore the power he wields

I vote for Clarity. I could search on another site without Google and I could live without DRM-free music, but if there was no Buckeyeplanet, I 'd actually be forced to do some work...or worse yet, visit the Bucknuts' boards.

Any list without Al Gore at #1 is a fraud. He invented the damn thing!

Maybe this US Senator actually did for for the internet than Al Gore:

    29. Ron Wyden; U.S. Senator, Oregon
Oregon's senior U.S. Senator, a Democrat, has long ranked as one of Capitol Hill most influential voices on technology issues. During his tenure, Wyden has authored or co-authored the Science and Technology Emergency Mobilization Act, the Cyber Security Research and Development Act, and the controversial CAN-SPAM Act. (Hey, they can't all be winners.) More recently, Wyden has introduced a bill called the Internet Nondiscrimination Act, which would prevent telecom companies from charging more for delivering content faster.

    Thump. Not Tibor.

I'll toss in a hat tip to Charles Johnson over at Little Green Footballs. The individuals behind The Belmont Club, Capatin's Quarters, and The Gates of Vienna are all of equal caliber, erudite, thoughtful, and well-spoken.

I know Bosack & Lerner both left Cisco years & years ago, but somebody from Cisco has to be on this list. Just about every single packet that travels the Internet passes through a Cisco router (or 20).
