#5 The Ohio State University vs. #6 Kentucky, Saturday, Dec 21 @ 5:45 PM, CBS (Las Vegas, NV)

Villanova

North Carolina

Kentucky

What, Duke and UCLA weren't available?

I'll bet some idiot on the internet (Michigan fan perhaps?) will say OSU had an easy schedule.
not an "easy schedule" comment, but here is a dfbia response from a "most overrated team" preseason thread on reddit:

the guy is a troll who goes out of his way to show his hate of osu, most often when it's not based anything that's based on reality. i've dinged him more since then and i'm surprised i had only downvoted him 8 times when he posted that comment.

his username tells the story.

Well, that was real fun to watch. First off, hate Kensucky and their redneck fans, so this win was really sweet. And Calipari is a straight-up bitch. But I'll say this, they're a damn good team and I feel like this was our best game, because they're the best team we've played so far (on a very tough schedule). That was a straight up battle and man did our boys show mental toughness and testicular fortitude to stay the course and win. There wasn't a point where I ever doubted that we'd win that game.

Always had believed we were a great team this year, but this win makes me think we're elite. We play incredible defense and we've got a lot of depth. If someone isn't scoring, we've got a lot of guys that can step up in their place and drain a shot.

That being said, how about the individual performances from Carton and Young today? Carton can score in a variety of ways, but he was suffocating on defense and just blew me away on that end of the ball. And Young...I apologize from this sounding like the stereotypical white basketball player breakdown, but it's just the truth...he's not a great athlete. He is just so damn smart and sees everything on the court before everyone else, then gets what you think looks like an easy bucket. But he earns it with his foresight. And don't forget K. Wesson today... might have fouled out, but he shut out a great player and absorbed a TON of fouls that got UK in trouble early, which I think paid big dividends. They had to hack the hell out of him to control his scoring.

About as proud as I've been of a Buckeyes basketball team. Showed a ton of heart and overcame significant adversity to win against a very good team. Boise State lost big and if my Dayton Flyers could've pulled off a win against Colorado today, would've been the perfect sports day. But I'll take a win over Kentucky any day, damn proud of our Bucks, this is going to be a fun season.

Lol Kyle Young is a damn good athlete despite his pigment

He's not a bad athlete, but he's not a forward that just overwhelms the opponent with athleticism. Kyle's vision on the floor is just unreal. And effort. Damn does he play hard. But everyone on this team plays so hard. I was talking to my dad about it, it's like the spirit of Aaron Craft has possessed every player on our roster.

Agreed! He’s probably the best dunker we’ve had at the 4/5 since.......? Maybe Sam Thompson? Although he was still more of a wing.

Young rebounds and dunks like a guy much bigger than he is.

i think about "athleticism" in two ways:

1. speed, spurtability, and hops.

2. fluidity and dexterity.

young has 1 but not much of 2. still a very good athlete, though not elite. compare him to, say, russell. not a lot of 1 but he oozed 2. thompson had 1 but very little of 2. craft had plenty of 1 but not a ton of 2. conley had 1 and 2 by the bushel. carton undoubtedly has 1 and 2.

This a a great way to look at it, and Young.

Haven't seen it put that way, but its a good way to look at it. Young can definitely jump and slam the ball (love the Slam Thompson call back, he was fun to watch). I was definitely thinking more of category #2. He doesn't typically create points off athleticism was my point. But I am damn glad he's on our team because he is a great player.

Get the feeling that the difference in this team being a Sweet 16 team vs a Final 4 team is if DJ can make a Mike Conley-like leap between December and March.

Kid balled in the second half, especially when Kaleb fouled out in the last four minutes.

Blocking 3s, knifing through traffic in the paint to finish with layups and floaters at the rim against elite talent. That’s a skill this team hasn’t had for years.

the play from young that still sticks out the most to me is the one time-stamped below. it's not a dunk, alley oop, or block. sure, he gets the ball with pure, unadulterated hustle and desire. but that cat-quick "swim move" he uses to wedge between the two players for a putback is extremely athletic. most college players will go their whole career never making such an instantaneous move. kinda like chase young getting behind the offensive line before they even get out of their stance.

might go down as my all-time favorite kyle young play. and i've watched this play about 30 times just for the bench reactions.
