#5 Lousiville 44, #3 West Virginia 34 (Final)

I was not impressed either. tOSU would eat either of these teams for breakfast. I would prefer that tOSU play someone else in Glendale, because if scUM (or any other team) were to play Louie-ville for the NC, many would be saying what a lucky break the got and that it wasn't really "legit" because they didn't have to face the best. I don't want to see a tOSU NC tainted by playing an "inferior" opponent. However, if they win out, they deserve to be there. Many didn't think tOSU deserved to be on the same field with scUM South in 2002 and look at what we did. If we do face The Ville on January 8th, I will not be complaining, but I also don't want our boys to have to deal with a bunch of crap.

I must say that I found myself turning the channel a lot last night during that contest. What a sloppy game, neither of those teams are top 5 material.

Somewhere out there I can hear the BCS guys getting quite nervous about the idea of Louisville playing OSU or Michigan in the title game. That game wouldn't draw a lot of neutral fans, because it probably would be a blowout.

Someone needs to tell those guys that they need to play defense. Ask Notre Dame what OSU does to a good offensive team with a shitty defense. :wink2:

One thought that went through my mind as I watched that yesterday was would this be what it is like to see Michigan State play Michigan State?

Then I realized we had already seen that, in effect, when ND played MSU.

So, I'm hoping that ND nets one or other of these two in their bowl game (should they qualify) - CFB or SI would gush over the prospect of a New Years point fest on grass.

Hysterical poll on ESPN.com right now ...

Will Louisville finish the season undefeated?

The options are "Yes, playing for the national title," "Yes, not playing for the national title," and "No."

I'm guessing Rutgers fans are confident and WVU fans are bitter ...

In yesterday's poll, 49 states were wrong about who would win last night. Looks like 47 were only partially convinced, since they don't put Louisville in the title game.

I don't think we'll play Louisville for teh BCS championship, but if we do.......please let's all remember that 99% of the announcers (and 100% of those in Florida) bet that Miami would pound the 'slow' Buckeyes in 2002 BCS championship. Yes, we Buckeye Nation are proud of our Bucks, but so are those in Louisville, Ky.

I too, believe that all the cards would be on our side, and 77-7 final would be Tress holding down teh scoring, but (1) let's get past Meatchicken first; (2) see if it's Florida, Auburn, LSU, USC, or Louisville.

(But from a BCS revenue point of view, the guys that run that gig ARE having heart palpitations with small market Lousiville, and mid-market Columbus playing for all the marbles.) You're dead right on that one!

News flash...every opponent to us would be inferior. I could give a shit which team "the system" puts against us...a win in the NC game is a legit NC.

I wholeheartedly agree with you and maybe made my point a little to hastily (in Herbie-like fashion). Personally, I don't really care who we play at this point. I would have loved to see some revenge for the '79 Rose Bowl, but USC is off the table now. My point was that I would hate to see the media downplay the significance of a NC because of the opponent. If Louie-ville is undefeated I also want them in the game because I do not want any lingering doubts by anyone that there is any team this year that can stand up to the Bucks! So bring'em all on!!!

Texas... Dead
scUM... Dead
USC... Dead
Florida, Auburn, Tennesee, Arkansas... Dead
L'Ville, WV, Rutgers... Dead
Domers... Dead
Boise State and their Blue turf... Dead
Niedermeyer... Dead (That one's for you Blutarsky)

GO BUCKS!!:osu:

I realize this fellas. That wasn't the point. Louisville, Boise St., Notre Dame, etc.; will still be there over Wisconsin (hypothetically) and not deserve it, due to the BCS's stupid rules. Would there be a limit of 2 spots per conference if a mid major, Big east, Notre Dame at 8 or better, and every conference didn't get an auto bid? It doesn't reward the 10 best teams necessarily.

Where to start with this post....

First off, Rutgers has played a few teams that have an offensive pulse. We, as Buckeye fans don't think Illinois poses much of a threat, but Rutgers SHUT THEM OUT.

Secondly, Greg Schiano has built a very good foundation for a defense. Chances are they read their keys and play to their responsbilities quite a bit MORE than wither Louisville or WVA did tonight.

Finally, Wisconsin won't make the BCS unless scUM or OSU fall completely flat in the final 3 games. The BCS only allows 2 teams per conference in....

The BCS is not primarily a competition agreement. It is not meant to reward the best teams and match them against each other, with the exception of the NC game. The BCS is primarily a REVENUE SHARING AGREEMENT, which means that no matter how much the fans may think it stinks, the Big East isn't going anywhere when it comes to the BCS.
