4-star SAF Joshua Proctor signs with Ohio State in Early Signing Period

Despite a strong push by Oklahoma, Proctor kept his commitment to Urban Meyer and the Buckeyes.
Since Urban Meyer and Kerry Coombs arrived in Columbus, Ohio State has turned into a secondary factory, routinely turning out NFL-caliber defensive backs at an alarming rate. The next player to join the B.I.A. position group is Owasso, Okla.’s Josh Proctor, who just faxed in his National Letter of Intent.

The recruiting process for the No. 8 ranked safety in the country has been an interesting one, starting with a surprise commitment in April, to rumors of a potential flip, but in the days leading up to the Early Signing Period, the four-star Proctor made his intentions clear, and he made good on his commitment today.
The second ranked player in the state of Oklahoma, the 6’2, 190-pound safety comes to Columbus as the nation’s 76th ranked player according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. Defensive coordinator Greg Schiano led the recruiting on Proctor, who also held offers from Oklahoma, Michigan, Georgia, Oklahoma State, Arkansas, Michigan, Texas, and more.
While it’s become normal for OSU DBs to wait their turn to get regular playing time, Proctor just might have the talent to see the field early and often for the Buckeyes.
Scouting Report
Proctor is one of the best prospects Oklahoma had to offer. According to the 247sports composite, the four-star is the No. 2 rated player out of the Sooner State. A combination of athletic ability and long arms has propelled Proctor to not only being one of the best in his home state, but a top-10 safety in the 2018 class. He helped bring Owasso High School a state title after stuffing the stat box; Proctor nabbed four interceptions and 35-plus tackles, while also seeing time on the offensive side of the ball, too.
He’s dynamic, and has the potential to be a star at the next level.
