other thoughts cook had 10 boards in 26 mins with only two fouls. nice numbers for him (shot five of ten from the floor also)

lighty, things are starting to click, but i still think in four years this kid will be a different player. mark my words now, i really do. he will be a difference maker, maybe not a star or the man, but will be that third guy who is a veteran and can put a team over the top (jason singleton comes to mind quickly)

hunter, continues to improve. played well stealing minutes while oden was out. night in and night out he seems to get better, the progress has slowed, but shows me something new every night it seems.

conley, the kid plays beyond his years, though he showed some freshman tonite. 4 tos need to be cut back and the issue i have is i believe 3 of those went for transition buckets. had a heck of the game shooting the ball and scoring. as always he played very solid ball. brent hit it on the head saying that he is likely the all b10 pg.

oden, early foul trouble. looked kind of out of it and lax in his approach. im sure his friends death was a factor, but more so is probably being in a car to terre haute, then to w. laf. he missed the shoot around and to me it showed. granted he didnt play the awful game so may think, he had 4 tos, but at the sametime didnt get many calls his way (a traveling that should have been a foul comes right to mind) but he has to play through that at his level.

butler played well nice night shooting some big shots at timely points. ive come to expect nothing less from him...

harris didnt shoot the ball all that well, tended to fade off. played a decent defensive game, but hit both his shots at timely manners.

twig, played more mins than he has in awhile, stole some minutes and kept his team in the game. you can ask nothing else of a guy in his role if you ask me.

lewis, had a nice night, though i still do not approve of his shot selection. his mins i believe were only 20 or so. down from the normal time.



also greenies to the first to asnwer this....who leads the team in tos?

Well, I'm watching the replay of the game now over here on AFN and I will have to agree that the crowd there is about the biggest bunch of pathetic crybabies I've heard. Every possession they are "Awwww'ing" and "boooo'ing" for non calls and for obvious fouls on us, like it's the referees duty to keep them in the game. Fucking morons.:roll1:

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. ? After some rough days for the Ohio State basketball team, Wednesday was a good night.
The fourth-ranked Buckeyes finished strong, earning a 78-60 victory in front of 13,961 fans. Ohio State (19-3, 7-1) became the first visitor to win at Mackey Arena.

The 7-foot center had just nine points, six rebounds and two blocks in No. 4 Ohio State's 78-60 win over Purdue on Wednesday night, but he found other ways to control the game.

West Lafayette, Ind.- Greg Oden arrived at Ohio State's team hotel at 4:45 Wednesday afternoon and said he wanted a quick nap. OSU coach Thad Matta told him to sleep as long as he wanted to, just as long as he made the 7 p.m. tipoff at Mackey Arena.
But when the Buckeyes' bus left for Mackey at 5:10, Oden was on it. When he got to the arena, he immediately sat down for a 25-minute film session, catching up on everything he'd missed the last few days. Matta said the 7-foot freshman watches film like coaching legend John Wooden...

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- For nearly 30 minutes, Purdue's basketball team found a way to counter every Ohio State run, providing hope to most of the 13,961 fans at Mackey Arena that an upset might be possible.
The Boilermakers got Ohio State star center Greg Oden in early foul trouble. They got surprising contributions from their bench.
But in the end Wednesday night, the fourth-ranked Buckeyes just had too much talent, pulling away in the final 10 minutes for a 78-60 victory and a successful return to Indiana for former Lawrence North High School stars Oden and Mike Conley.

The talk has been that the No. 5 Buckeyes (19-3, 7-1 Big Ten) have lacked some chemistry since freshman center Greg Oden entered the OSU lineup. It looked like they found it in OSU's 78-60 win over Purdue (14-8, 3-5 Big Ten) at West Lafayette before a crowd of 13,961.​
Prior to Oden's insertion into the lineup the Buckeyes were a guard-oriented, up-and-down the court team. Since Oden has been inserted in the lineup, however, the Buckeyes have had trouble playing to and through Oden while maintaining their ability to run and take advantage of their guards. Against the Boilermakers, however, that changed.

Good coaching job by Thad, probably the best player rotation I've seen this year. Believe me, by the tourney, that will be essential. Great court time for Twigs, Butler played some quality minutes at the point, Lighty was inpressive on both ends. Other than some flyers by Harris, I was duly impressed. Good job Bucks, another big one up next. :osu:

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. ? Mike Conley Jr. is the best assist man in the Big Ten. Jamar Butler isn?t far behind him.
The hand they gave the Ohio State men?s basketball team last night won?t help their numbers. But it might have been their biggest assist of the season so far.
