Cavaliers Improve to 4-0
The red hot Cavaliers improved to 4-0 after a beat down of UCLA 49-24. Although the score makes it seem like it was a close one, and if you thought it was, you're mistaken. A couple of fluke plays including the very first play from the line of scrimmage gave UCLA 14 points. Opening play after the kickoff, QB lofts a floater, in fact I pulled out my duck hunt gun and started shooting at the ball it was in the air so long, TWO DB's went up to break it up. They of course couldn't, as Chris Berman says, KNOCK IT DOWN, ended up tipping it up, in whic the UCLA receiver promptly grabs it and takes it to the house. 7-0 UCLA 16 seconds into the game, and I thought oh great, this is going to be a long game.
However, the 0-3 Bruins did not have much success other than 1 rush TD in the 3rd. The other fluke play of course was a fumble on a punt return in which the UCLA player housed the recovery.
Possible Heisman hopeful, runningback Torrey Mack, had an alltime game. 4 touchdowns and 280 yards on the ground for him, set a new single game record for UVA. His two rushing TD's of 40+ yards were nothing short of great blocking and finishing touches by Mack. Mack did get hurt the last play of the 3rd quarter, and was out for the rest of the game, which was good news as it wasn't anything serious.
Verica had another mediocre day in week 4. Although the game was played in measly rainy weather, he threw 1 INT in the redzone, but also threw for a touchdown, and completed about 50% of his passes. He needs to step his game up for the start of in-conference play next week against the Duke Blue Devils.
Look for UVA to crack the top 25 after week 4, and there's no turning back.
