That was a great game...back and forth with everything you could want. Big plays, turnovers, defensive stops, and a dramatic finish. It took a batted down pass in the end zone to secure the win for Baylor.
All done while missing my star senior QB Florence for the past 3 weeks. Sophomore Bryce Petty did more than an admirable job in a starting role, completing 17 of his 24 passes for over 300 yards and 4 touchdowns (1 rushing), enough to earn himself POTG honors in this year's Orange Bowl.
Maryland's star tailback Porzel gashed Baylor for over 200 yards and 3 touchdowns, in what may have been his final game as a Terrapin. If it wasn't, have mercy on the ACC, as the 96 speed 99 acceleration redshirt junior has the ability to dominate next year.
With this win, Baylor wraps up another 11+ win season, their third in a row. As it stands now, they also have attracted the #2 recruiting class in the country with signing day announcements still pending. It is rumored that Baylor is planning a switch to the 4-2-5 defense, as evidenced by their heavy recruitment of defensive backs as of late. It would be a welcome change to a team that has seen its defense routinely ranked among the bottom of the nations Division I schools. If Baylor can pair a competent defense to go along with their already explosive offense, they will truly be a national power to be reckoned with.
