Um, there was a huge discussion on ESPN with Linda Cohn, Digger Phelps and Hubert Davis. A good 5 minute segment of nothing but boasting the Buckeyes.

ESPN loves OSU bball. the agenda doesn't translate from the gridiron. very different revenue streams.

The game has been over for what 20 minutes or so and looking at the Espin headlines online and absolutely no mention of a big victory for our Buckeyes. How much you wanna bet if it was a big loss that it would be right at the top of the headline stories.
Man, get decaf next time. We cool.

Ohio State dominates Duke from start to finish

By Gary Parrish

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- One school entered ranked second in the Associated Press poll, the other was ranked third. So on paper not much separated Ohio State from Duke. But on the court -- at least on this Tuesday night -- the two storied programs couldn't have been farther apart.

Final score: No. 2 Ohio State 85, No. 3 Duke 63.

Yep, it was a beatdown from start to finish here at Value City Arena.

Ohio State opened on an 11-0 run, led 47-28 at the half, by as many as 24 in the second half and cruised to a lopsided victory that legitimized it as a true national contender before a star-studded crowd featuring former Buckeyes (Michael Redd, Evan Turner, Greg Oden, Mike Conley, etc.), a current NBA coach (Doc Rivers) and two NBA stars (LeBron James and Dwyane Wade). The Buckeyes are now 7-0 with five 30-point wins -- plus victories over No. 3 Duke and No. 10 Florida.

Cont'd ...

A couple of observations -

1. Need to update the thread title to "uke +5.5" Duke has no "D".

2. Fans were wonderful with two exceptions:

- instead of chanting "Urban Meyer" should have been chanting "Thad Matta"
- instead of chanting "Over Rated" should have been chanting "Out Coached"

3. I went prepared for a nail biter. Never had so much fun watching a rout in my life. Simply a wonderful, wonderful, game experience.

4. This is the first team Matta has coached with this much talent. The first time he has had the depth of talent of a Duke, NC or Kansas. It is time to revisit everything he has accomplished and sit in awe of what may lie ahead.

5. Sully is all that and a bag of chips. Lots of great plays by great Buckeyes tonight, but the game was all about Sullinger.

6. The stat I watched most closely was the fouls. None either way for the first six minutes or so. Kudos to the refs for not deciding the game by sending a key player to the bench.

7. And I am sorry, but I have to do one brief therapeutic rant.

Where is my fucking program? How can a school that is genetically programmed to take every dime I have ever earned not be prepared to sell me an over priced program to the one game where I choose to buy one? Forty minutes early and they were long gone. WTF? Could you not see this coming?

I will be contacting the school about reissues (they did it for the 2002 NC game). If you too are looking for a program DO NOT buy one on ebay. Let's see if we can't cut the legs out from under the clowns who walk off with box loads.

Just got back from the game:

1. I've been to more than 25 OSU games at the Schott in the last 5 years, this crowd was the best and loudest.
2. Team defense is great.
3. Sibert is still trying to find his role, tough assignment on Rivers.
4. Lots of anti-Lebron chants if you could not hear them on TV.
5. Looking forward to Sullinger improving as an individual defender.
6. This team is nasty deep. So much talent everywhere.
7. Buford and Craft are way underrated - both are beyond special.

Most fun I have ever had at a basketball game.
