'27 CA SF DeMarcus Henry (Verbal Offer)

Oh, wow. Didn't know that Henry had a brother. Most of the pub is on how ex-pros took him under their wing(s), but didn't realize there was another brother. Not much about him, but hope he joins his brother in Columbus town.

I know we are all in on March madness stuff right now but Jamie Shaw posted an article talking with different recruits. For Demarcus Henry he said speaking with him the school he hears most from right now is Ohio State. I hope our NIL will get the job done and help us close the deal. He’s a five-star guy top 15 recruit in 2027.

Ohio State hoops faces arguably its toughest test yet to bring in Chris Henry Jr's brother

While Chris Henry Jr. is cemented as a Buckeye, the Ohio State men's basketball team just learned a formidable opponent is in the way of landing his brother.

early three years ago, five-star wide receiver Chris Henry Jr. committed to the Ohio State Buckeyes. Now, he's officially in Columbus, preparing for his first season with the team.

While he might be cemented as a Buckeye, his brother is not, but DeMarcus Henry isn't a football prospect; he's a five-star basketball recruit, who is the No. 5 small forward and top-15 overall prospect in the class of 2027.

The thing that the two brothers have in common, other than their last names? Ohio State went after both of them.

The Buckeyes are heavily recruiting the younger Henry, working to bring him to Columbus to join his brother within the Ohio State athletic department, but one blue-blood program just added a hurdle in their way: the North Carolina Tar Heels.

UNC Tar Heels join in on DeMarcus Henry recruitment

Over the weekend, Henry announced that the Tar Heels had extended him an offer after his conversation with UNC head coach Michael Malone.

The competitive edge that the Buckeyes have? Well, other than his brother already donning an Ohio State uniform, Henry received an offer from OSU and head coach Jake Diebler on May 7, 2025, over a year before the Tar Heels did.

As one of the top prospects in the upcoming cycle, it should come as no surprise that Henry has received dozens of offers, including a few from the blue bloods in the sport.

Henry has received offers from the Kentucky Wildcats, Arkansas Razorbacks, Louisville Cardinals, and a few other of the dominant teams across the country, as well as one of Ohio State's newest in-conference rivals, the Oregon Ducks.

According to 247Sports, Henry has received 20 official offers, including the most recent one from the Tar Heels, and that number will likely only grow over the next few months.

During his first season of varsity basketball, Henry earned 14.8 points, 6.9 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.5 steals, and 0.6 blocks per game. Since then, his on-court performances have only blossomed.

There is still a lot of time remaining in Henry's recruiting process, but a program like North Carolina jumping on board his recruitment is just another bump in the road for Diebler and the Buckeyes.
