'26 OH CG Jason Singleton Jr. (Verbal Offer)

JASON SINGLETON... JUNIOR! Jake Diebler offered 2026 guard Jason Singleton, the son of — you guessed it — former Ohio State men’s basketball forward Jason Singleton, a scholarship on Wednesday.

A 6-foot-4, 175-pound athlete from Columbus, Singleton Jr. averaged 13.6 points, 5.7 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 2.7 steals while leading Columbus Academy to the Ohio Division V state championship game. Despite Singleton’s 27 points and nine rebounds in the final, Columbus Academy lost to Lutheran East, 53-49, as the Falcons claimed their third consecutive state title.

Ohio State is one of several teams to offer Singleton this summer. The three-star recruit and No. 7 Ohio prospect also received scholarship opportunities from Creighton, Davidson, Dayton, DePaul (Holtmann!), Detroit Mercy, Eastern Michigan, Harvard, Miami (OH), Nebraska, Ohio, Yale and Purdue.


Junior balls out like Senior, that's for sure.

Across four seasons at Ohio State from 1995-99, Singleton Sr. appeared in 199 games and made 86 starts for the Buckeyes. He averaged 8.6 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.1 steals for his career, including 8.9 points (on an impressive 63.5 percent shooting), 4.6 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.8 steals for Ohio State's Final Four team in 1999.

While Singleton Jr. has lots of time to choose his college destination, he seems excited about the idea of following in his father's footsteps.

"I'm extremely blessed to have received a division one offer from Ohio State," he posted on social media this week. "Huge thanks to Jake Diebler, Coach (Dave) Dickerson, and the rest of the staff! I'm extremely grateful for this opportunity!"

I tell you what, if the apple didn't fall far from the tree, OSU ought to try really hard to recruit this young man. Jason Singleton Sr. stuck through some tough times at OSU and was a key part of the turnaround in 1999. His dad is a good man and if his parenting is anything like his other work, I'm sure Jason Jr. has a bright future. It wasn't a total coincidence the 2000 team, which didn't have Jason Sr., couldn't make a run in the tournament even though they still had stars Michael Redd & Scoonie Penn - every team needs good, solid, strong athletic players to blend in with their stars. The fact that successful programs like Creighton & Purdue have offered young Jason says a lot.

My niece goes to Academy and my brother says that Sr. Is a great dude and everyone loves him. Diebs needs to lock this one down!

  • Michigan State basketball is reportedly showing interest in four-star 2026 combo guard Jason Singleton.
  • Singleton is ranked 92nd overall in the 2026 class by 247Sports.
  • While Michigan State hasn't offered Singleton yet, he has received offers from several other schools, including Ohio State and Nebraska.
  • Singleton plans to officially visit Nebraska and is also considering visits to Michigan State and Stanford.
Michigan State basketball is reportedly linked to a four-star combo guard from Ohio.
Travis Branham, a recruiting insider at 247Sports, reported an update on four-star combo guard Jason Singleton that included the Spartans joining the mix. Singleton recently caught up with Branham, and one of the few teams mentioned was the Spartans.
Other schools highlighted in the post were Nebraska, Ohio State, DePaul and Stanford. The Cornhuskers are expected to host Singleton for an official visit as well.
Singleton holds a recruiting rating of 96.35 and ranks as the No. 92 overall prospect in 247Sports' rankings for the 2026 class. He is ranked as the No. 13 combo guard and No. 5 player from Ohio in the class.
