Very interesting read and analysis in premieredrum's recent posts:

Here is a link to the article Intrinsic is referencing (below). It's a Substack published today by Matthew Plessinger.
I don't know Matthew, but this is very detailed and well-researched piece.
However, it makes several matter-of-fact mentions about the University being charged with LOIC.
Many of us who were working last summer to break details about the charging phase were all but assured that they were charged with LOIC, but the subsequent Thamel piece informed by UM leaks only claimed a Failure to Monitor charge.
While the publicly-available information seems to support LOIC, we've not had any confirmation of that. An aggravated FTM charge would carry similar core penalties.
Curious.

How Michigan’s Violations Could Reshape NCAA Enforcement

Jim Harbaugh, Sherrone Moore, and Connor Stalions have each been implicated in Michigan’s ongoing NCAA infractions cases, which span recruiting violations, sign-stealing, and allegations of non-cooperation. (AI-generated depiction created by Matthew Plessinger, August 03, 2025.)

12. Conclusion

The University of Michigan’s dual NCAA violations—the 2020–2021 recruiting infractions and the 2021–2023 sign-stealing scandal—exemplify a profound challenge to the principles of institutional control and fair competition in college athletics. Under head coach Jim Harbaugh, the program’s repeat-offender status under Bylaw 19.9.3(g), characterized by violations occurring during an active probationary period, combined with clear non-cooperation under Bylaw 19.2.3 and systemic failures under Bylaw 19.1.1(c), position Michigan for some of the most severe sanctions in modern NCAA history. These include the likely vacation of the 2023 national title wins, postseason bans, and substantial scholarship losses, as evidenced by precedents like USC and Ohio State where similar obstruction led to vacated records and extended show-cause orders.

Unlike Tennessee’s mitigated outcome through exemplary cooperation, Michigan’s defensive posture and evidence destruction have amplified aggravating factors, underscoring a lack of accountability that contrasts with more contrite programs like Arizona State or Oklahoma State. The Big Ten’s mitigation plea from Commissioner Tony Petitti in July 2025 may offer some buffer, but NCAA precedent favors independent accountability, with the conference’s letter non-binding. A postseason ban could disrupt Big Ten CFP seeding and revenue sharing, impacting conference dynamics and highlighting the broader ripple effects of institutional misconduct.

As a blue-blood program, Michigan’s case may set a precedent for stricter sanctions in the NIL era, where financial compliance dominates but traditional violations like sign-stealing remain punishable. With court battles emerging as the next enforcement battleground, testing NCAA authority in a legally contentious landscape, this scandal not only threatens Michigan’s legacy but also signals potential reforms in how the NCAA balances traditional integrity with modern regulatory demands. Beyond Michigan, this case may redefine the NCAA’s enforcement posture in an era where technology-enabled gamesmanship increasingly tests the boundaries of fair play.

Matthew Plessinger co-hosts the "MgoBucks" podcast on Youtube with UM fan Nate Lester.
FWIW, it's not the most polished listen.

I mean, he's definitely a real human on the podcast.
The piece is well-researched and doesn't scream AI to me, but let's not get sucked down the path of automatically validating something because we want it to be true.
In any event, we don't have long to wait.

Yeah, an AI scanner lit up like a Christmas tree when I copied it over.
Ope.

Just sayin': Ther AI article is long; but it is interesting and does make very good sense. Sure hope the LOIC charge is true too.

Roman Wilson is not looking great either, getting shown up by an undrafted rookie in camp right now.

He sat out pretty much all of last year with an injury, but it was an open secret that he was kept on IR because he was struggling to learn the playbook.
