I hold the firm belief that the mob, Vegas and betting operations started this... they spotted the trends and it didn't look right... then they realized how much money they were losing and these entities don't deal well with losing money... IMO, the sign stealing revelations came after the pre-mentioned folks were pissed and as the flight deck commander on Top Gun screamed "I want somebody's butt and I want it NOW"... voila, here come the feds dragging the NCAA in
