2025 Ohio High School Playoffs

Final 4's are set! I'll update later in the week with the matchups for each division

D1
Chalk outside of St. X getting revenge, 42-34, on Elder. Elder had played with fire a lot on their way to 12-0 going into the game as they were 5-0 in one score games, but it caught up with them.
St. Ed's and Olentangy Orange both looking real, real good and of course they matchup next week.

D2
Walsh....ehhh....cheated?....and spanked Hoban, 35-7. Not surprised they won but certainly surprised at that score...not sure anyone saw that coming.
Big Walnut taking down Massillon was a surprise to me as well.
Avon kept doing their thing, beating Highland who can't seem to get over the hump.
Anderson looking awfully dangerous, yet again.

D3
CVCA absolutely cooking right now, best year ever it appears.
TCC still elite, as is Bishop Waterson and hopefully we get that for the title game.

D4
Glenville destroys Perry, 35-7.
Shelby had their closest game of the playoffs, and it was a 41-7 win for them...
Indian Valley and Indian Hill win....Go Indians? Can I say that?

D5
Mooney wins, one more gut blow for Ursuline 8D
Liberty Center and Wheelersburg win shutout blowouts
Indian Lake ends North Union's Cinderella run....should have known it was an Indian summer still.

D6
Kirtland back to the final 4, like always it seems
Hopewell-Loudon also crushes the #9 Carey
#5 Colonel Crawford makes it to states, and Coldwater wins a tight one 14-12 over Anna

D7
McDonald keeps cruising, 42-21 over Mogadore
Columbus Grove takes down Leipsic
Hillsdale eeks out a 25-20 win over #11 Danville
And.....Marion Local goes down, easily at that, to St. Henry 24-7. Hope you took my advice and bet on it! Longest winning streak in the country ends at 76 games. Garden City in NY now has the longest current streak at 65.

Late, but never forgotten!

D1
St. X cruised over Middletown, 21-6. Absolute peak factory.
Olentangy crushed a very good St. Ed's, 28-0. They've been the clear cut #1 all year and I don't see that changing. Would be their first state football title as well.

D2
Avon smoked Walsh Jesuit, 38-7. I feared beating Hoban was going to cause an emotional let down and it did.
Anderson in a closer than expected win, 29-22, over Big Walnut. A repeat of last years title game, this time I think Anderson gets revenge. Also realized last years Final 4 had the same teams (swap Hoban for Walsh) and the scores were nearly identical for the winners. Odd.

D3
TCC comes back to beat CVCA, 21-20....CVCA was up 20-7 going into the 4th, heartbreak for them
Another rematch as Bishop Waterson won easily, 41-9 over Tippecanoe. Bishop Waterson won the title 14-9 last year, I'm torn on this one as they've been the best team in the division but there has just been something special about TCC all year to me. I'll take the upset.

D4
Glenville, back again in the Final 4, eeks out a 26-21 over Indian Valley.
Shelby dominates 42-7 over Indian Hill. Still, I will never pick against Glenville who still has the best jerseys in high school, as well as the best chant of 'Boom, whack, thud - Tarblood!'. How are you picking the Whippets when you have that!? Side note...wow, truly rough mascot name nowadays.

D5
Wheelersburg wins 24-10 over Mooney
Liberty Center crushed Indian Lake, 42-10. LC lost a tough title game last year to Ironton, this year they cruise to theirs.

D6
Kirtland over North Robinson, 49-22, for another return to the title game.
No rematch to last years as Coldwater couldn't hold up their end of the bargain and lost 20-18 to Hopewell-Loudon. The Cavs were up 18-6 but got controlled in the 2nd half. Kirtland FTW next week, although easily the game I'm least confident on.

D7
St. Henry in a very tight, and great game, 13-10 over Columbus Grove.
Hillsdale returns again with a 41-14 win over McDonald
Hillsdale lost the title game last year 74-0 to Marion Local...yes, you read that right. St. Henry has just looked like the best team in that division, which is why I had them shock the world with the upset, and unfortunately Hillsdale finds themselves in the path of another beast.

:smash::smash::smash:

Always the bridesmaid, never the bride.
AHS has been runner up (25, 24) and semi-finalist (23) the last three years and can't seem to break through.

I really thought this was their year, but definitely didn't expect a 3-score win for Avon. Championship pedigree came out of them the last two games and that program seems to now have taken the next step with their first every state titles in back to back years.

Glenville up 31-7 with the 3rd quarter coming to a close. Radio link

Only lived in the state from 2011 - but sometimes it seems like its a good year for Southern Ohio teams and other years seem like Northern Ohio teams are clearly better. 2025 seems to be a year for Northern Ohio.
