2025 Cotton Bowl: #2 tOSU vs #10 Miami-FL, Wed 12/31 7:30 ET at JerryWorld

Unless the QB can run. IIRC the offense opened up more last year once Howard started running for first downs. But Julian's wheels seem pretty slow. He would have had running room with all that space miami's D left in the middle in the first half. Of course just putting a receiver there would have also worked.
But if you know he is not a running QB...unlike most of the last QBs at OSU..

Another Day tendency. Not running his QB's to keep them from getting injured, then when he really needs them to run, they aren't practiced at it. A catch 22.

Either way the chances of losing increase at some point doing it that way. Sucks

Didn’t get to watch the game but had a bad feeling going into it. The whole “we are keeping it in second gear until the games matter” narrative took a hit after Indiana and died tonight; offense just was not good enough full stop. Needed to take training wheels off of Sayin earlier and let him have growing pains. Still a good year and I’m not nearly in the same negative headspace as after last years loss to TTUN but they need to take a good long look at next years offense and how they can have an identity. I don’t want to see any more CJ Donaldson runs for 1 yd in 13 personnel. You play your best and force others to adapt to you. Need an identity and I just haven’t known what ours is all season long on offense.

Also play with urgency next season.

You said it. When we were finally in a war we couldn’t respond.

I realize they want to limit the reps but maybe how you do that is by going up 21-0 in the first? Then you can coast.

When you have no fast ball to your change up then that’s a bad deal

I also think the middle of the field is left open because they aren't running crossing routes like before. It was a staple of Days offense before. Maybe they don't run them because of Sayin's height. Sayin is the smallest QB they have had since Day has been here and the crossing routes just seem to disappear even though they were some of the most effective plays in Day's offense.

Consequence of a head coach calling plays while trying to handle all the other shit happening concurrently.

The thing is I think Julian can run. He just doesn’t because that’s not his best feature.

Man can’t believe the seasons over.

Similar problem that CJ Stroud had. Can run but won't run. We have seen in the NFL that CJ can really run too.

I have no clue how good or bad of a runner Sayin is since we have barely seen it in game. There are YouTube videos of Sayin doing running jumping throws, he doesn't look that immobile or unathletic.

Yep. Killed Hairballs and Michigan with Mesh. Now we just stack our WR room with 5 stars, but then run a lot of 11, 12, 13 and 14 personnel because Holtz said we were “soft”…or something.

It’s criminal to not at least try moving the pocket, bootlegs etc. when you KNOW how weak the OL is vs their DL. Sayin also missed some (hello wide open TE in the end zone early in the game) but it just felt like they somehow thought Miami’s DL wasn’t as advertised?

We ran quite a bit of mesh throughout the year and he adept at hitting the TE in thesit behind it.

But yeah most of his missing people open are at the middle of the field. Though not the 1st level like mesh 2 and a 3rd usually. The problem tonight is he was missing the open flats too where he murdered people all year.
