Interesting. It's a big stretch to say OSU's roster is comparable to that of Kentucky and BYU - pretty sure those programs spent a ton more on NIL. Louisville also reportedly spent big. NC State beat out OSU for star F Darrion Williams. IU supposedly spent $10M for their roster this season which would be more than OSU by far. Money's not everything, but maybe they don't need to use a "preseason roster grade" to evaluate players after the regular season has been completed?Ohio State men's basketball: "Good roster that underwhelmed"![]()

Yeah, that preseason roster grade needs to be looked at more critically. Does it over-value offense vs. defense?Ohio State men's basketball: "Good roster that underwhelmed"![]()

Yeah and it also doesn't feel like accounts for injuries. So Tilly, Noel, Mobley etc being gone where we lost a game we may have won with them is counted as underachieving.Yeah, that preseason roster grade needs to be looked at more critically. Does it over-value offense vs. defense?
Based on this guy’s analysis, we should have been preseason top-15.
$22 million for Kentucky but who's countingInteresting. It's a big stretch to say OSU's roster is comparable to that of Kentucky and BYU - pretty sure those programs spent a ton more on NIL. Oregon was picked #5 in the B1G preseason poll, with OSU 9th, can't imagine how their roster would rate as worse than OSU's in that scenario. It appears "preseason roster grade" rates OSU's players as roughly tied for 3rd-best in the B1G, in the same ballpark as Illinois and UCLA and behind only UM and Purdue, which is a vast overrating of the OSU roster compared to the preseason beat writer's poll. I would say the Buckeyes preseason roster grade should put them in the same vicinity as Iowa. Seems to me a lot of bullshit went into the "preseason roster grade" metric.
"Joining Indiana in the $10 million club are Arkansas, BYU, Duke, Kentucky, Louisville, Michigan, North Carolina, St. John’s and Texas Tech.
Two more Big Ten schools – Purdue and UCLA – are expected to spend $8 million on their rosters." https://r.search.yahoo.com/_ylt=AwrFFUa457BpM9IBEQAPxQt.;_ylu=Y29sbwNiZjEEcG9zAzIEdnRpZAMEc2VjA3Ny/RV=2/RE=1774410937/RO=10/RU=https://www.si.com/college/indiana/basketball/report-indiana-basketball-is-in-the-10-million-club-01jscryv0nc0/RK=2/RS=6LncaeVA8vqklPqD9GXoDD60W_g-
Dont let the press beat us and run on them when we can is the first thing I can see we need to do better. If we can get running, they can't get that hedge and support set up and gets us some early and open looks, hopefully. This team thrives on rhythm so if we can get going a little early, we could possibly run them out of the gym the way we've been playing. Like you said, depends on how Diebler had the boys ready to play and I hope it's still on the trajectory we've been on.Buckeyes rematch vs the Hawkeyes tomorrow at high noon & I'm looking forward to it. This game could be revealing about Jake Diebler as a coach. The first matchup, Iowa put a systematic beatdown on OSU with what seemed like a very basic gameplan. There definitely need to be some major differences in the game strategy for OSU. Having Tilly and Noel (fingers crossed) available to help should make a difference somewhat. Offensively, OSU struggled mightily against Iowa's hard hedge and they prevented the Buckeyes from getting clean looks in the middle of the paint that they thrive on normally. Defensively, Iowa was able to create mismatch problems off switches and exploit them - Alvaro Folgueiras in particular. I would certainly hope OSU has some different strategies to attack this team. At the very least, OSU having a healthier frontcourt (fingers crossed) should help change the dynamics somewhat.
