2025-2026 Ohio State Men's Basketball

FWIW St Mary's should be MOUNT St Mary's, quite a difference lol.

@ Pitt is a "must win" type game, Pitt likely is not getting close to being a tourney team (picked 14th preseason in the ACC and are 80th in Kenpom currently) and a OOC loss to them would look bad on our resume at the end of the year

Per Adam Jardy
Statistically, this was the kind of game the Buckeyes would almost certainly have lost last season. Ohio State finished with an adjusted offensive efficiency of 95.9 points per 100 possessions according to KenPom.com.

That would have been the eighth-worst offensive showing of the 2024-25 season, when Ohio State lost all nine games it played with an adjusted offensive efficiency rating lower than 101 points per 100 possessions. When Ohio State was below 110 per 100 possessions, it was 1-13 during a season when the Buckeyes finished 17-15.

Yeah, OSU struggled as a team offensively vs ND, although Bruce and Tilly did pretty well. If they don't get Ojianwuna playing this year, Mobley in particular needs to step up for this team to be a tournament team. Mobley did not play very well vs. ND, and OSU needs him to take on more of a professional mindset and approach. I feel like there's another level to his game he could get to if he were to polish his shots more and be a little more careful with the ball.

There was a saying Diebler had going into the Pitt game, in reference to last season's loss where Pitt had 16 offensive rebounds & outscored OSU in the paint. Diebler said you're either the hammer or the nail. After giving up 16 offensive rebounds again and being outscored 38-30 in the paint, I guess the Buckeyes are the nail. Certainly the way the team came out in the first half was uninspired and does not bode well. Cannot come out and let other teams outhustle and outwork you.

I'd like to know how much NIL is being spread around this team. Some of these guys aren't really worth giving any NIL funds of significance to. I know this past offseason OSU was unable to get some higher profile transfers that could have really helped this team and I blame NIL - Kennard Davis Jr for example was obviously basing his decision on NIL. I also wonder what the strategy is, because obviously OSU hasn't figured it out with regard to men's hoops.

On the positive side (tired of being a Negative Nellie), agree with the above that tOSU woulda lost this last year. However, the fight in the Buckeyes, even without Mobley, was impressive, and to build a four point lead also very impressive. Someone shoulda slid over and force him from his path, but didn't happen. And then he hit an outrageous 3 buzzer beater. Shoulda woulda coulda. No one hated losing this one more than the players, and doubt they'll forget. And they'll assign someone to take the dribbler next time......Go Bucks!

Just a blast from the past.....grew up watching Luke, Hondo, Nowel, Siegfried at St Johns. They were ten years older than I was, and woulda won three Nati's in a row, except for UCs Paul Hogue and Mel Thacker. Anyway, with few exceptions, tOSU hasn't been in the rarified air of the NCAA's except for the one time.....yeah, still go to the Schott (when in town), but wish could attend at St John's arena. Go Bucks.
