2025-2026 College Basketball General Discussion

It's going to be a hell of a challenge to only pick five guys for the B1G all-conference first team this season. I would like to think that Bruce will be chosen, as he certainly deserves it; however, there are 5+ others that also deserve it. Bennett Stirtz, Keaton Wagler, Jeremy Fears, Yaxel Lendeborg and Braden Smith all deserve it, too. What is going to be the tie-breaker in one of those guys not making it? I can see voters not putting Wagler on the first team since he is a freshman, and most of those other guys aren't going to have another chance to make it - that's not a great reason for Wagler to not be chosen, but I can see it playing out that way.

I watched this live go back and watch the replay whoever is doing the clock screwed up royal it wasn't until the guy was near half court did it start actually running from the 3.6 it started. I am not sure how someone screws it up this badly as the guy who is shooting it thinks he has plenty of time to get it off when in reality he might not have. Great shot and all but maybe the 3.6 would ran out or maybe he would rushed it.
Sucks for Navy this was their best team since David Robinson 1986 team and they had won 14 in a row.

Yeah there is a question if he would have tried the dribble behind the back of he had under a second to get that off.

Big Ten honors are going to be voted on soon - who gets Coach of the Year? You have two viable candidates. Dusty May and Fred Hoiberg. I would give it to May because his team won the league by 4 games, but I can see why people would go for Hoiberg. Nebraska was picked #14 in the preseason beat writer's poll, and finished tied for 2nd. Hoiberg obviously was able to get the most out of his team relative to expectations. UM was picked #2 and Purdue #1. Oregon was the biggest disappointment, preseason #5 finished tied for 15th. OSU was picked #9 and finished 8th.

It'll be interesting to see who's on the Big Ten all-Freshman team. I see 9 good or very good candidates - Wagler, Steinbach and Mingo I'm expecting will make it as they were all team leaders as freshmen. After that, you have Mirkovic (Illinois), Mills (MD), Frager (NE), Adams (MD), Amare Bynum and McKenney (UM). Mirkovic probably should make it, he averaged 13 points and almost 8 boards per game along with 2.5 assists. I think Frager tailed off - he only had 4 double-digit scoring games after mid-January, so I don't think he should make it & even then he was more productive than Adams down the stretch. I don't think McKenney was relied on by his team quite enough. That leaves the last spot to Andre Mills and Amare Bynum. While Mills scored more, he was on a much worse team and they needed him to score more than OSU needed Bynum. I would go for Wagler, Steinbach, Mingo, Mirkovic and Bynum for the all-freshman team in the B1G, but it's a close call for that last spot.
