2024 Ohio High School Playoffs

Some surprising results tonight!

Olentangy Liberty up 21-7 on St Eds late, late in the game

Avon easily handling Hoban 28-10

Liberty Center 48-14 over South Range

And a stunner as Columbus Grove takes out Marion Local 29-27!
Marion Local crushed Columbus Grove.

That‘s bizarre — I don’t know why, but Maxpreps was showing 29-27 for a Columbus Grove last night. Thanks for the correction!

MaxPreps is the most god awful site, I truly have no idea where they come up with some of their scores, schedules, stats, etc.

But you weren't lying, what a surprising night it was in some ways!

D1
@brodybuck21 gets his wish granted and Olentangy Liberty held on, 21-7
Moeller destroyed Centerville, 49-10....yikes stripes
The 3-time defending D1 champs St. Ed's going down before the finals was certainly a bit of a shocker. Liberty has never won a football state title.

D2
Anderson scores with 33 seconds left to defeat Big Walnut (great name), 28-24
Avon smashed Hoban, 35-10....I don't think anyone saw that final score
15-0 vs. 15-0 state title game....this would be Avon's first state title with a win

D3
Bishop Watterson cruises over London, 55-21....that first part before the score felt like a soccer headline in the UK
TCC beats Ursuline, 7-6.....Ursuline also scored with 33 seconds left but missed the XP
TCC looking to 3-peat with a win next weekend

D4
Indian Valley in a bit of a surprise, 29-20, over Taft
Sandusky Perkins with absolutely a surprise in a 13-11 win over Glenville
Really thought Glenville had this one and was going to 3-peat themselves. Indian Valley going for their first ever state title.

D5
Liberty Center shellacked South Range, 48-14
Ironton keeps peaking, 63-21, over West Liberty-Salem
The expected show down doesn't happen as Liberty Center makes it back to the title game

D6
Coldwater keeps doing what they do, 28-6, over Bluffton
Kirtland yeets Northmor, 41-7
Absolutely stoked about this matchup, two legendary programs, Kirtland trying to defend their title against the Cavaliers whose only loss was to Marion Local. This and D2 are elite, elite matchups.

D7
Hillsdale ends Danville's great ride, 25-22
Marion Local gives up points, wins, 41-6
This would be, but won't be, Hillsdale's first state title. This would be Marion Local's 15th this century. 63 wins in a row. I believe their last loss was the 2020 playoffs.

Yes, in 2020 they lost in the Regional Finals - they have won 48 regular season games in a row dating back to 2019 - I cant imagine playing your whole high school career and not losing a game - pretty wild.

Their 63 game win streak is the longest in state history, passing Kirtland's 55 in a row (2018-2021)

Longest current streak in the country. Crazy to think the national record is 151 games set by De La Salle in Cali.

birddog - any idea where interested parties can stream the game? Or will it be broadcast on local TV?

If you have Spectrum, they'll carry all the games and also have a streaming option. You can stream any game on the OHSAA site, but I think they are charging ticket price to stream, so $10 per game. I am hopeful a free stream hits YouTube also though
