2024-2025 College Basketball General Discussion

Houston played very erratic after that 1st technical foul on Florida which led to them appearing to be in control of the game. Florida did play some good defense but Houston definitely did not help themselves either. It wasn't just those last 2 possessions.
You don't understand Houston's game. They are a hyper team, they are all about energy, toughness, outworking and wearing out the other team. It didn't work out in the end today, but you've got to credit Florida for putting the clamps on them defensively.

I know that, but they played too hyper, sometimes you gotta pull it in and play a little calmer when that isn't working. Trying to keep doing the same thing over and over again when Florida had clearly figured it out and was stopping it is just bad play.

I give Florida credit but them winning again is annoying. I know its been awhile since they won back to back but it's still somewhat recent enough memory.

That was a very brutal choke job at the end there. Lol.
It was one boneheaded mistake, under a ton of pressure. But you were calling it a choke when they weren't doing anything seriously wrong at all. Florida just outplayed Houston to get that lead, that wasn't really a choke, Houston just got outplayed. Yes, they blew it at the end. But you can't take credit away from Florida, they deserved to win, they worked very hard to put themselves in position to win that game.

Houston's game is what it is, you don't change your identity because the other team is figuring out how to play you. If Houston had chucked up a desperation 3 that went in at the buzzer, no one would be criticizing them now. It was a tight game, and it's very easy to be Monday-evening analyst - ultimately they were close enough to win playing the way they did.

IU was probably the most disappointing team in the B1G, considering the rumors they paid out over $10 million for that team last year, going over the top to get everyone they wanted in the transfer portal. Paying all that money, getting the cream of the crop in the portal, being expected to be a contender in the B1G and still missing the big dance is a disaster. That shouldn't overshadow the poor job Steve Pikiell did at Rutgers. If you look at the latest mock drafts, two of the top-3 players in some of them are Rutgers freshmen Dylan Harper and Ace Bailey. How bad of a coach are you if you have two of the top-3 talents in college basketball, a preseason top-25 type team, and you're 11th in the B1G? You have to say Steve Pikiell is inept at building a roster, to have two excellent players and a complete inability to mold a competent cast around them, and he's been at Rutgers since 2016, so he's had plenty of time to learn about the B1G and the level of players you need in order to win.
