2022 NCAA Tournament, Brackets and games

Texas A&M was 23-12, won 8 of last 10 including a run to the SEC Champ game today. They beat Notre Dame on neutral floor in Maui. The NCAA’s own NET rating had them 11 spots higher than ND (#42 vs 53).

Yeah, but Quad 1 and Quad 2 wins, though.

Aggy went 9-9 in those games. ND went 4-9 in similar games, so obviously...oh, wait.

And the Aggies weren’t just the 1st team out but the 4th. I’m really really starting to think the committee gets into Indianapolis during Conf. Champ week and enjoys steak dinners more than watching the games.

It seems like Conference tourneys don’t matter at all (see also, IU beating Mich but somehow those teams are in flipped spots).

They almost certainly have it mostly set in stone by the 1st conference tournament game and probably just watch their sports app of choice for major upsets while they go to St. Elmo and build their hotel loyalty points.

What you're saying is 100% correct and would be completely valid if this were any other program besides A & M.

But going on a miraculous and spectacular conference tourney run, including playing in the finals, by knocking off a top 5 team (Auburn) and top 15 team (Arkansas) in back-to-back games (not to mention beating the recently anointed "'greatest' coach ever" Mike White in the 1st round 8D), and still getting left out of the Big Dance is probably the Most Aggy Thing that could be possibly conceived.

The bracket is set. Let the overthinking begin.

NO. 7 OHIO STATE VS. NO. 10 LOYOLA CHICAGO (SOUTH REGION)
10957402.jpg

Synonymous with Sister Jean, Loyola Chicago is back in the NCAA Tournament and draws Big Ten at-large selection Ohio State, a team that seemed to fade down the stretch this season, especially defensively. Buckeyes coach Chris Holtmann said Sunday night he wasn't sure where his team would be placed or what seed they would receive and several national pundits mentioned Ohio State might be over-seeded as a No. 7. Ohio State is 4-4 over its past eight games, all of those coming in the last 20 days for a team that's a bit worn out entering the Big Dance.
