I agree somewhat. But let’s look at back 7 and try leave Coombs and scheme out for now.

Proctor is a known commodity and solid. Hickman and Ransom have flashed. Just need one of them to emerge.

Banks quietly became one of the more consistent guys. Next year he could easily make the jump to elite status.
Cavazos has length and athleticism coming out his ears and he’s everything you want on the hoof but certainly unproven. If he has a Banks type year from ‘20 then that works fine, especially if Banks moves up to the next level like I suspect. And Cavazos certainly has the ability to have a better ‘21 than Banks did in ‘20.
Williamson is suddenly the veteran leader by a large margin and provides depth and a lit of experience.
To me the CB situation focuses on those 3 primarily but a fully recovered Brown may factor in or one of Martinez, Watts or maybe by some miracle the light comes on for Tyreke Johnson.

My money is on the 3 mentioned however and Banks has an opportunity to become a multi-millionaire and this is his season to show out. I think he will and I also think Cavazos may have more natural talent than anyone currently on the roster.

So that leaves the LBs and is actually my area of greater concern than the DBs because Wade was the only loss as far as starters.

I see Dallas Gant becoming a household name and I can see it happening early. This guy to me just has an “it factor” and would have already made his move last year if not for so many vets ahead of him. Can Teradja be the man in the middle not just with his own play but helping to get everyone set? That’s my biggest question mark is leadership in the back 7, especially among the LBs. Who is the 3rd LB? My guess would be Pope but that’s a total mystery. To me it’s Gant, TM and (fill in the blank)

Ok, so now the worry: LBs are clearly the biggest unknown followed by coaching. Does Coombs have the chops? There’s talent in the DB room and a little bit of experience. Heck it is easy to overlook that these guys played and beat Clemson and played in the NC game. Lost in the loss is the experience those guys picked up so I’m less concerned about that group.

I’m very concerned with LBs and the fact that Coombs is unproven still in terms of calling a defense. There was enough experience (and talent) in the back 7 last year that there wasn’t really an excuse to get torched so much. Now what can he do with less overall experience and unproven talent.

Yeah, it all comes down to the semantics of "question marks" I guess.

I see a bunch of new starters and say "question marks" unless they are all guys who have been in the rotation and we've seen play (well). We've seen a lot of these back 7 guys but I can't sit there and think plug in and play/no worries like you can with say the interior OL for '21.

High level it's pretty much always the same thing with roster turnover at OSU, plenty of talent but some unknowns until you see it play and develop. Hence "question marks".

Have any of the LB other than Browning officially declared?

Pretty sure Hilliard accepted a Sr Bowl invite? Think Werner and Borland participated in SR day so the assumption is they are gone without any kind of declaration needed.

Not 100% sure though.

EDIT

Borland, Browning and Hilliard are all going to the SR Bowl.

Not sure what Werner is doing but he's gone by all accounts.

Top 10 games in the B1G for 2021

The Buckeyes have #8, #4, #2, and #1. Kind of a surprised Indiana is at #2:

2. OHIO STATE AT INDIANA - NOV. 6

This was a shootout last season and Indiana’s only loss on the year. Ohio State escaped and despite playing less than six regular season games, were given the nod over the Hoosiers for the Big Ten championship game. Of course, Ohio State went all the way to the national championship game but Indiana might have some saltiness heading into 2021 if they feel they were robbed of a chance at the Big Ten crown and College Football Playoff. With fans in the stands, the Hoosiers crowd might be rowdy and expect a game under the lights if both are in contention for the division at this point of the year.

Also, kind of surprised Indiana is at #3 too:

3. CINCINNATI AT INDIANA - SEP. 18

So you want the Bearcats to have a better strength of schedule? How about a road date with a Big Ten contender early in the season, that should help. A Power Five win does wonders for Cincinnati’s playoff chances, should they go undefeated next year and if they want to become the first Group of Five team to make the final four. For Indiana, it’s a nice out of conference challenge early on that could give them a litmus test of their abilities for 2021. Indiana surprised everyone with a quality season last year, now can they duplicate that success under Tom Allen?

I'm sure interested in finding out what they're learning. Sure didn't learn anything from the first fucking 200 yards Smith had without sweating!

No, I'm still not over the lack of adjustments. Still too soon I guess

Just sayin:

I kind of like playing the Pedsters on Halloween weekend.....

I wonder what prompted that change. Regardless, it doesn't surprise me that Kevin Warren couldn't get it right the 1st time....
