This could be the year scUM doesn't finish 3rd in the B1G East, this year 5th or 6th appear to be a realistic possibility.....

Michigan fans will soon be spewing the usual rhetoric, see below .

Using 247 Composite rankings, scUM's starting defense, with Aidan Hutchinson (.9498), had an average per player of 90.69

scUM's defense without Hutchinson, and with his replacement Taylor Upshaw (.8752), has an average per player of 90.01

By the way, Ohio State's offense has an average of 96.39 ... and that's with Chris Olave's ridiculously low score of 88.75

A difference of 6.5 points per player. That's unreal. December 12th could get really ugly for scUM.

Their dline depth was bad before, now its completely shot. Wisconsin even if they are somewhat depleted is going to run all over them on Saturday

We've been fond of saying "until they quit the sport". I never once thought their own arrogance would make them quit the sport once the beatings went on long enough.

Their need to feel superior is going to lead to their school (and fanbase) choosing to go the "we don't want to play the game with the big boys because harvard of the west yadda yadda yadda" bullshit.

It gloriously ironic and on brand.

I’m big on UTQTFS.

But if they leave the B1G to play in the Ivy League, I think I could live with that.

Just perusing their commits list for 2021, scUM currently has 6 top-150 commits in the 247 composite rankings. That's a step up from the past couple of classes. Of those 6, 5 are out of staters, who one would think would be especially vulnerable as times become more and more turbulent in what is looking more and more like a sunk season.

What does that mean? Well, it's well documented that their past few classes have been pretty subpar for a supposed "big time" program and have been riddled with attrition. Even if the Harbrau survives what's shaping up to be a 2014-level disaster, no way he's getting extended and he goes into 2021 as a de facto lame duck coach in the last year of his contract. What kids are going to commit (or stay committed) to a program that they don't know who will be the HC for a majority of their careers? You can bet other programs are ramping up the negative recruiting (re: Harbrau's job status). Longer term, it means the next coach is inheriting a roster significantly less talented than the one Harbrau inherited.

Hate to see it.

Let's hope the 2020 ugly significantly surpasses the "ugly standard" for the scUM game that has been established the last couple years, i.e. the 2018 (62-39) ugly and the 2019 (56-27) ugly, etc.
