MGoBlog says it will be Zach Carpenter as the probable starter at C after taking second team reps in bowl practice.

Yes, the 3 star/#554 nationally, traitor guy who never received an OSU offer.

Look at his offer list in that link. He claims a Clemson offer but the rest of the schools fit a slightly different profile (mid major to low end P5)

Good luck with that.

You just hate to see it.

He apparently didn't have a very good year and they were expecting him back because his NFL draft grade could use some work. But, this is the guy that was "busting a move" in that weight room vid, so I'm sure that's gotta count for something. Ruiz is another guy that came in with a lot of hype that was never really realized.

The only one that should go is Nico Collins. If DPJ goes he's stupid. I don't care what his measurable are, he's been a mediocre (at best) college receiver with a case of the dropsies. He'd probably be a day 3 pick, at best.
Well, I'm not saying you're wrong, but I will say this is the same school that produced a RB named Karen who sat out to protect his draft stock while ending up being undrafted.... so... I'd say DJP doing something stupid by completely over estimating his draft status would be right on brand.

The question is, what are his chances of improving his stock next year with a brand new QB and completely rebuilt OLine?

Regarding their oline, they seem to be fairly confident in their returning talent.

We’ve got talent in the pipeline now for the first time since... mid 2000s?
But 2 of the guys taking over spots have started before and have at least a full season of playing OL on special teams. And they're both grown men and not freshmen or redshirt freshmen. Makes the proposition of slotting in two top 100 types as first time starters seem a lot less scary.
Fun side note, they literally don’t have a single top 100 OL on their roster as seen below.
In Coach Ed we trust. Best OL coach in recent UM history.

It will be quite the OL competition in spring ball, summer conditioning and fall camp. But the raw material is definitely there to develop an excellent new OL unit.

Isn’t the OL one area where M has recruited well over the last 2-3 years?

2018: Mayfield, Hayes

2019: Jones, Rumler, Keegan, Barnhart, (Carpenter, Stewart)

2020: Zinter, Persi, Mazzccua [Committed] (Atteberry)

almost all of them ranked 4-stars through the sites... OL should be the least of the problems moving forward.

But also with stuff like this.
Do not worry. False optimism will start to spring up around June. And by December, we will all be sad again.
I'm not sure why you are even a fan with that sort of take.
My comment was not a take. It's. um... what happens?

So, with all that, here’s an OL ranking comparison between OSU and UM going into next season.

RS SO Nicholas Petit-Frere #7, #1 OT
FR Paris Johnson Jr #7, #1 OT
RS JR Wyatt Davis #24, #1 OG
SO Harry Miller #30, #2 OC
RS JR Josh Myers #53, #2 OG
RS SO Matthew Jones #68, #1 OC

Bonus points for the rumors circulating on their boards that Filiaga is going to transfer (and also Donovan Jeter at DT, leaving them even more ridiculously thin there as well).

Good stuff.
