DFBIA: "Guys who leave early for the NFL shouldn't count as attrition"

Reality: DPJ was the #1 WR in the 17 class. Accomplishes exactly dick in 3 years under the offensive mastermind Harbaugh and bolts for the NFL hoping that there, someone will throw him the damn ball.

DFBIA actually wants to look at hat as player development.

I shit you not.

Theyll be singing praises when some team takes a late round flier on him. You can count on that

#1 WR out of HS to 6th/7th round pick. Now thats quality player development!

Same goes for Patterson, #1 QB out of HS to lucky to be drafted. But theyll tab it as HARBAUGH PUT A QB IN THE NFL!!!11!!!

Harbaugh will put Patterson in the NFL just like he put Rudock in the NFL...as an undrafted free agent that will spend a year or two as camp fodder for a couple of teams.

Impossible. Mgo tells me that much attrition is “normal”

Yep. For those with better sense than me who don't go over there and read the stupidity, try and wrap your head around this;

  • Half (for easy math) of a recruiting class is gone via transfer and a couple of desperation early NFL entries (not high round early entry guys mind you).
  • DFBIA looks down and says "well, they weren't really producing anything anyway" Which is by and large true
  • DFBIA does some math, carries the two, and spits out this result; no production from a class + 1/2 of class is gone = Win! there is no problem here, nothing to see. Move on. Frees up more spots for, one can only assume , similar talent development.
It's just hard to comprehend being that myopic and unwilling to even recognize there might be something less than "ZOMG! Best EVAH!!!" about the tsun football program and St Jim of the Undiagnosed.

DFBIA 2017: We signed a Top 5 recruiting class!!! Harbaugh's a genius!!! We're back!!!

2017-2019: scUM goes 27-12 (.692 win pct), 3 losses to tOSU by combined score of 149-86, 3 losses in bowl games by combined score of 102-50

2017-2019: More than half of scUM's Top 5 recruiting class of 2017 bails on the team, mostly by way of transfer

DFBIA 2020: We don't need that Top 5 recruiting class!!! We're better off without them!!! We're back!!!!

Quote Urban, "Michigan has the second-best set of receivers in the Big Ten." I think he went even further and said something along the lines of "as good as other top teams in the nation."

Blowing smoke up Michigan's ass? I don't think so.

Over the last two years, I saw evidence that Nico Collins and DPJ (see the Notre Dame game and the 2018 OSU game) were capable if not excellent. The problem was the overall design of the run-first offense. Think Woody Hayes before Schlichter showed up.

Harbaugh had weapons, but he didn't/doesn't know how to use them. He admitted as much and brought in a coach to correct the situation and then ignored him when the running game showed promise prior to meeting Wisconsin.

It's not a secret what he was doing, Cinci:

How do you respect a rivalry? You work that shit every day.

"you notice how we talk about them, right? Is that a good program up there? Great program. Good players up there? Great players. Great coaches? Great coaches."

The problem isn't that guys like Collins or DPJ aren't talented coming out of HS.... Hell, OSU wanted DPJ .. and if he had come here, he would have been pushed to reach his ceiling, rather than be comfortable with his floor... it's what separates OSU from Michigan... they are diametrically opposed philosophies... and it is why they fail.

They got screwed by officials in 2016 dude.

The whole narrative would be different if they weren't cheated out of that game.

C'mon man

It’s one thing to turn a blind eye just to the roster attrition as a glaringly obvious problem, but stack it with the fact that they lose 100% of the time they are an underdog and it takes a truly magical level of dumbassery to continue keeping your head buried in the sand.

Michigan in 2021 has 5 top 100 players in state

There is a very real chance scUM only lands 1 of them. #1 Payne (31 nationally) and #4 Dellinger (#89 nationally) are both almost certainly headed elsewhere. #3 Edwards (#49 nationally) and #2 Spindler (#40 nationally) are far from scUM locks, they will have to hold off everyone pretty much, which Harbaugh has not been good at. #5 El-Hadi (#96 nationally) is the lone one scUM has reeled in so far.

Imagine that happening in Ohio with Ohio State. (Theyve landed commits from the 3 top 100 players in state already)
