After watching again last night, I will give credit to Herbie and Fowler for one thing: After the call (Samuel cuts it back...Ohio State wins!) they were smart enough to shut the fuck up and let the moment breathe. Or someone at ESPN was smart enough to cut their mics. Either way, the moment was that much better for not having it filled with inane chatter and cliches.

Bullshit. "Choke" implies the team who should have won, failed to do so. That's not what happened here. Michigan has lost to Ohio State perennially for the last 20 years because Ohio State has had the better team and the better program. Choking's got nothing to do with it.
Bullshit, again. Ohio State doesn't beat Michigan because of football gods. Ohio State beats Michigan because Ohio State is better, and Michigan is worse.

This was the first time I attended The Game in person. I was young and dumb and really thought this was the year. Sure, not the best Buckeye team but it was finally our time, I could feel it. I was so gutted walking out of the stadium and I realized it was never going to be our time. Not with Coop running things.

2001 - 9-1 Michigan should have beat 6-4 Ohio State.
2002 - 12-0 Ohio State should have beat whatever Michigan.
2003 - Toss-up. I think this game was for the Big Ten Championship.
2004 - 9-1 Michigan should have beat 6-4 Ohio State.
2005 - 8-2 Ohio State probably should have beat whatever team Michigan had.
2006 - Toss-up. Both undefeated. But Ohio State was better.
2007 - Michigan lost to Appy State. HAHAHAHA!
2008 - (I'm still laughing)
2009 - (I'm still laughing)
2010 - (I'm still laughing)
2011 - Worst Ohio State team since 1999. Michigan should have won. Michigan should feel ashamed that the score was so close.
2012 - I don't remember who Michigan was that year. But Ohio State was undefeated.
2013 - Again, Ohio State was undefeated.
2014 - Ohio State - eventual national champions. Michigan - not eligible for a bowl game.
2015 - I don't remember Michigan's record, but it wasn't as good as Ohio State's.
2016 - Toss-up. #2 vs. #3. (Also, the replay booth got it wrong. The call on the field should have been CONFIRMED, not "the play stands", you spineless wimp!!!)
2017 - Big Ten champs vs. Michigan
2018 - Big Ten champs vs. Michigan
2019 - Big Ten champs vs. Michigan

When Ohio State is favored (by record), I have 13-0 for Ohio State.
When it's close, I have 2-1 in favor of Ohio State.
When Michigan is favored, I have 2-1 in favor of Ohio State.

So you're right: Ohio State typically is better. But even when they aren't better, they are better.

Well. unless they could have come up with something like Holy Buckeye to help "immortalize" the play......

Noooooooooooooo no no no no no. They didn't belong on the same field as us, I don't give a shit what they were ranked. If not for some gift turnovers on bad snaps....and the typical bullshit PI calls that routinely go against us, they get the ass kicking they deserved.

I think it's risky to assume ANYBODY would leap to take the scUM job. Look at their coaching search after DickRod. They had to settle for Brady friggin' Hoke. In 2014, the stars aligned for them to bring the Harbrau home, but if Jimbo hadn't just been shitcanned by the 49ers, does anybody of note take that job? I'm not so sure. On the flip-side, they're dumping tons of money into Harbaugh right now, and he's giving them post-2000 Lllllllloyd results. Are the blue hairs up there going to be willing to pay $8M/year for a coach again when it yielded such mediocre on-field results this time? Nationally, scUM is viewed as a program that was once a power, but now a chronic under-achiever. I don't think they hold the prestige they did two decades ago. Maybe PJ Fleck is wired to see it as a challenge. Or maybe he looks at it and says the last three coaches (DickRod, Hoke, Harbaugh) had their careers either killed, or at least severely damaged by taking that job. As for Kirby Smart, he's a UGA alum and is doing quite well there. I see no scenario where he leaves that job.

To me, their next step is going to have to be to find an up-and-comer to try to come in and totally reset the way they do things. I just don't see an established coach taking that job if he has other options.
I mean, there's still Les Miles.... again.
